The top LT1 engine is an evolution of the L99 and LS3 V8. At 455hp, if that's the real rating, the LT1 is only about 30hp more than the LS3 which was the top engine. Yes, the LT1 has 55hp more than the L99, however the L99 was detuned somewhat for AFM with a smaller cam while the more primitive LS3 did not come with AFM or VVT. The weight loss gives it a better power to weight ratio which adds to the performance increase.

It's an improvement, but it's not like the night and day difference you make it seem to be. The C4 to C5 Corvette transition or the old 4th gen F-body to 5th gen Camaro was a night and day difference. I'm sure GM could've cut up to 300lbs from the Zeta chassis if they wanted too. In fact, I think I remember reading something on Wiki page about a lighter Zeta based platform that came out in the Holden VF commodore and the Chevrolet SS in '13.

There are a few things about the 6th gen that are not "superior" to the 5th gen though. Less rear seat legroom, smaller trunk and less headroom. I realize styling is subjective, but I think GM played it too safe with the overall design by making it look too much like the highly successful 5th gen. The design works fairly well until you get to the B-pillar. After that, you begin to see the compromises they had to make to the 5th gen like design due to the Alpha based platform.

Alpha is much more than just a lighter Zeta...that kind of comparison is just way off. Its a different structure, and not to mention, its over 20% stiffer while being much lighter. That is a big difference.

Exterior design is all subjective. But losing 200 - 300 pounds depending on V8 or V6, better handling and road feel, increase in peak HP, as well as a large increase in under the curve torque, 8 speed auto versus 6, driving mode selector standard on every car....adds up to a large difference. Period.

No, they could not have "easily" cut 300 pounds from Zeta if they wanted to. And the Chevrolet SS sedan you speak of, is not running a lightened version of it, as that car weighs just as much or more than a 2015 2SS.

I don't know why I keep hearing this. The new Mustang =/= the new Camaro in aesthetics.

However, I randomly decided to look up the diffuser in that picture. Those things are stupid expensive. To the tune of $2k+ for some of them.

Picked it up today, what a sweet ride!! My 2010 with minor mods had a harder punch to it and better sound, but that's stuff I get to do again with the knowledge that I have now.

Here how I see it I have struggled with this for the last 6 months I went to the reveal sat in it was one of the first to see it up close. I can tell you why I decided to keep my 2011 2ss cost is one reason. As for style not a big fan of the looks of the car rear end just ugly side view and the placement of the fuel door not a fan. Front end of the car I like the interior very nice back seat no one is getting back there I like I can fit 4 people in mine It feels way smaller inside. Sits lower to the ground I'm old don't like that the vents on the hood hate them look cheap. As for some of the options like nnp not worth it I like to pick my exhaust note not be stuck with what they give me mrc never needed it before don't need it now. As for all the technology blind spot, heated steering wheel, charging pad and so on no need for it for me. As for all the settings sport mode and color changing lights and things like that you will play with it for the first year and then keep it one mode forever most likely track mode. Yes it's a faster car still don't believe all the reviews how can ever one that test it come back with the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. We all go to the track there's no way everyone's times can be the same. So I decided to keep my 23,000 mile car and send it to Nickeys witch I drop it off this Saturday and do there stage 2 package save my self 25,000 and have a faster bad ass sounding car with the look I like. I like my big fat ass bitch don't want that skinny little bitch. I'm tired so I hope this isn't just some rambling but you get the idea.

Not a bit. It's refined enough, fast enough, and very handsome to my eye. My finances don't allow for a nearly $40,000 muscle car. So this was my one chance to buy an SS. I'm thrilled to have it.
