SS axle question

Does anyone know what the difference between SS auto and SS manual axles? There are different numbers for each. I know numbers and design are different left and right. What is the difference between a manual right side and an auto right side? I've tried to search here and parts houses list them different but say they work on all except ZL-1

They also list z28 separate, I've seen zl1 axles but I've never seen the z28 axle.

Has anyone asked or know the answer to the question of SS axle differences auto to manual? If they are interchangeable why the different #. Auto left vs manual left etc. standard SS not 1le. Z28 and zl1 list as not interchangeable.

SS axles are SS axles; no difference between Autos and Manuals. Differences arise when 1LE and ZL1 come into play - don't go there.

Just curious because the part numbers are different on a manual and automatic even though it's the same side. I know left and right are designed different from each other but a left manual and a left auto look the same but have different #'s. Wonder why??

Probably different revisions of the same part. I've seen others, like the ZL1 axles, have that. If you are looking to pick one, pick the newest as I'd presume it would have some improvements over the earlier version - that's an assumption. Many times it will say "has been replaced by" or "replaces" next to the part numbers as an indicator.

I'm still looking for info on the difference between SS manual axles and automatic axles. GM parts direct lists all the axles for gen 5 Camaros and obviously left and right are different but for SS mm6(1le) m10(non -1le manual) and myc automatic all the numbers are different. They also list z28 and zl1 axles. Just my curiosity because I've been told a lot that all SS axles can be interchanged as long as the left and right are on the correct side.

SS and 1LE WILL interchange with NO mod's...read my sig....and why are you gettin all wrapped up in p/n's??? Who care's...1LE is a great intermediate upgrade choice before springing on a more $$$$ setup...only diff is the axle nut size on 1LE is MASSIVE compared to SS nut..

BTW...right and left are different due to length...dat's it...1LE outer CV is bigger(stronger) than SS which is what typically explodes when runnin the Q wit DR's...good luck..

Looks like you're going to have to order them both and personally inspect them..

Did you use the stock Non-1LE SSaxle nuts on your 1LE axles? I was told that 1LE axles will slip right in on a stock LS3 SS but that id need to use the axle nuts for the 1LE as the thread on the axle was slightly larger. I just ordered brand new 1LE axles, nuts, and washers that im going to slap on wednesday or thursday

part numbers for 1LE axles and nuts

driver side axle: 22806795
passenger side axle: 22806796
axle nuts: 11611234
axle washer: 11611965

Got the 1LE axles installed today along with BMR trailing arms, out trailing arm bushings, and toe rods. You will need axle nuts if you have a non 1LE car and installing the 1LE axles on it. The non 1LE axle nuts wont work on the 1LE axles

Everything went in smoothly
