Yep! Dont sweat it. Seen alot of people get autos because they are too scared to learn only to regret it later...

When I first started driving, my dad was kind enough to buy me an old beater manual Celica. He had driven me to work that morning because I was only 15, and he showed up to pick me up in a different car. It was a manual, the first one I ever drove. It took me about 10 minutes to even wrap my head around what was going on. A couple days later, I was driving like a champ.

At least, so I thought.. until I had to come to a stop at a stoplight on a steep hill. Then it was an early lesson. No matter how much I think I know about what I'm doing, I actually know nothing.

Short story shorter, yes, it's easy to learn so long as you either have someone to teach you or you can get the car to an empty parking lot.

It's easy to learn, but another thing to master.

The funny thing is that 10 years ago, I bought a VW off the lot without knowing how to drive a stick shift. I only understood the concept. I drove it 30 miles home in stop and go traffic without stalling once. I honestly don't know how I managed.

Thats exactly how I learned. I was stationed at Ft. Gordon in '96, went into Augusta one day and bought a VW off a lot and learned to drive it on the way back.

I did roll back and bump another car on my 2nd or 3rd day. when I had to stop on a hill and when i took my foot off the brake to go for the gas just rolled back. no damage though.

It's not too hard to learn. Mastering is another story. Do it!

My advice would be find a friend to teach you in thier car. I wouldn't learn on a brand new camaro. I learned on a Chevy cavalier station wagon.

The Camaro's friction zone is a little bit harder to learn on than say compared to a Honda. It's much smaller which is good for those that wants to take off fast....not so much for ease of learning from my experience. It actually caught me by surprise when I drove my Camaro for the first time.

I wish everyone would learn to drive a manual, it is a good skill to know even if you never plan on owning one

I have driven a standared truck for 5 years and Tonight. I took home may baby a 2ss/rs standard with a hurst shifter .. I got out of the parking lot fine but stalled it at the light a block away. All cars are a little different. I agree learn on a different car then get your Camaro.
