2012 V6 vs. 2013 Scion FR-S
Here's the short story. Before I even considered buying my Camaro I saw information on the Scion FR-S. I'm a sucker for the "exotic/sleek" body styles and heavily considered this car. Anyway, I was just wondering how it would compare to my V6. Here's some info on the FR-S:
200 hp @ 7,000 RPM 151 lb.-ft @ 6,600 RPM 2.0 Liter, 4-Cylinder, Boxer 12.5:1 Compression D-4S (Direct and Sequential Port Injection Rear-Wheel Drive 2,758 lbs. MT / 2,806 lbs. AT I'm thinking the Camaro would kill it, but the light weight has me thinking. It's only a four-cylinder though. Does this thing have a chance, and please explain. I'm not very good at translating all the variables with weight/power just yet so any incite would be awesome. Thanks |

MotorTrend has an article in their new issue comparing the BRZ/FR-S against a '13 V6 Mustang, VW GTI, Miata, and Genesis Coupe.
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...or_comparison/ 1/4 mile for for the BRZ/FR-S were 14.8 and 14.9. The 1.8 mile road course time at Willow Springs was about 1-1.5 seconds behind the V6 Mustang. Knowing all this, the V6 Camaro should slowly pull away from the BRZ/FR-S in a 1/4 mile race and run very similar on a road course.

no right now that car sucks with acceleration and has no torque, if you wait for the turbo edition that thing will get a turbocharged stock 300 horsepower engine and it will redefine what the modern sports car is. with a couple mods to that turbo engine you will easily smoke camaro ss and maybe zl1's!
sports cars are getting too heavy nowadays. |

They said that the FR-s wont get a factory turbo... but they said that Hks was going to work on something for it to sell it under TRD..like an upgrade

And TRD is factory added parts. You can purchase factory TRD parts and they are covered by warranty. I would really like to see a high end TRD FR-S. Its a boxer engine, I'm sure you can add a factory Subie turbo onto it if you're impatient. Its a great car...I'm really looking forward to seeing one in person. Trying to convince the girlfriend to purchase one so I can buzz around in it. Her tC is a great built little car...very reliable. So I'm feeling the FR-S will be the same.

I've seen it in person and drove it. It's a very fun car to drive. It's not meant to be a power machine, but it's a blast to drive. Then again, this is coming from a guy who used to tear around in a '85 Corolla GT-S and '89 Corolla GT-S.
That said, if you're a drag racer, this is not the car for you unless you plan on adding some forced induction (as has already been stated by many here) |

This may finally be a worthy replacement for my long gone '89 Supra. That car was a blast to drive. I miss it every time I see one on the street.

A turbo on one of those, much less a factory turbo would be insanely quick. |

Sure is nice to see all the cool cars on the market these days. With few exceptions, the '70s and '80s were pretty sorry times for new car performance. |
