Post Calling all cars! V8-6/m

So i wrote this nice long explination and it timed out.
Hey yall ,

I found this site and im addicted! Im a chevy camaro fan now as my old man was. He had a camaro when i was a kid and a 25th anniversary vett!

Need some help can provide details if im missing some and i have video!

Quick story. Bought a certified camaro from the dealer with 7500 miles last week. CAr was fine. Logged 400 miles and the tranny seems to be having a problem. The car has not Allowed me into 2nd gear while driving(on ocassion) and has happened again in the am when first starting my route yesterday also reverse grinded into gear. This past morning it was so bad i went to 3rd for fear of ripping it into 2nd. I tried the whole double clutch method with no luck. I go out tonight to start the car as i dont want to over react but iim curious whats going on! ts the closest ive ever bought a car to new and when i start it the tranny is making a jack hammer noise until i engage the clutch then the noise stops and i did this for a Few pumps with no change and after the 5th it went away! Any thoughts?! im going to schedule a Appointment with gm asap. Anyone have a Problem like mine? Fixes? Covered by warranty ?? Never dealt with. Warranty before.

Thx in advance and safe rippin!!!!✌️

There is a 2nd gear lockout due to gas guzzler tax concerns. If in a certain RPM and speed it blocks out 2nd gear. It will however normally warn you on the DIC.

You can have this issue "tuned" out with a handheld or dyno tune, or you can purchase a Skip Shift Eliminator which simply plugs into the car.

It should show a message on the DIC saying 1st to 4th mode or something along those lines, can't remember exact wording since I tuned mine out some time ago.

If you are seeing that message when it's locking you out then mystery solved.

You could also just accelerate a little harder and the message will go away. It only happens when using 20% of throttle in 1st gear I believe.

If it's cold outside and/or the car's been sitting long 2nd gear will not be smooth. Don't force it. After being parked outside all day in the winter I tend to skip 2nd and go to third the first couple shifts. After a little bit it warms up and then it's fine.

Tanks for the reply. I drove a brand new callaway version that had sat for 4 months and there was not a single bit of any issues shifting. My main concern now is that noise i heard similar to the link the gentleman posted. Anyone else have that problem??

Mine goes into 2nd just fine regardless of temp so don't buy that.

I took mine straight to the dealer Saturday morning. They were easily able to replicate it, still no call back on it, but they gave me a loaner for the time being..

I conquer please let me know what happens. My car is at the gm dealer now as well. They said they can not do anything till they can duplicate which sucks cuz i know it'll happen the next day once i take it home. I even shot a video and gave it to them but they said gm has things the tech needs to do at time of occurrence to diagnose. They are standing by the whole tranny is hard to shift into second when cold theory. Says its very common in the car till at operating temp. Any one have any suggestions. They now have my car for 3 days with no solution. I was also upset to hear that i will have to deal with the brake squeal as gm is aware but there is no fix...starting to get a bit frustrated!! :/. Thanks guys for all the help👍 nice to know camaro5 helps when the dealership can't! Wish a gm service rep would send us some advice!:/
