Try living under ten minutes (by car, hell I could walk there) and still accepting that $1,400 freight charge. For pete's sake, if they spend that much on fuel to get it from the line to the front door of my dealership, I know why they're in financial turmoil!!!

Actually it's $50 charge for shipping, $1,350 storage charge to hold your car in the QC lot for an extended period of time.... schwing! OK... now I duck...

A little late to the rant party my friend. Don't search this topic though. The level of frustration that will be returned will blow-up your computer.

Just be a good Canadian and bend over and....

Shipping is an equal charge in each country to spread the burden of the overall cost of shipping across the country, especially to remote areas. If you take the total cost of shipping cars in the country and divide it by the number of cars shipped, this gives you the total shipping charge per car. Since the number of cars being shipped in Canada (denominator) is much lower than in the US and since we have to ship to a large number of remote areas which increases the total cost, we end up paying more in Canada on a per vehicle basis than in the US for our destination charge - sucks, but it is how it has always been done so people up in Yellowknife don't have to pay $20,000 to have their cars shipped to them.

Well, I don't want to be a jerk, but if I ask for something to be shipped to me from, say from ebay, I pay a certain rate based on my location, not based on everyones location who has purchased that item. So a person in Mainoba will pay a different amount from a person in NY who will pay a different amount from a person in Russia. (Okay we could get into the semantics of a shippoing company having certain overhead costs which are blended and shared blah, blah, blah, but I don't feel like thinking too hard about this). Now, if QC is in Manitoba or something I can see them flatlining the costs for shipping, but I'm pretty sure it's nearby (next door to the plant). Being that I live LITERALLY 5 minutes from the plant and my dealer is equadistance, I don't think I should eat the cost of someone elses shipping. Again, I don;t want to sound like a jerk, but I've paid hefty shipping fees for things I really want and I eat those costs. Otherwise I didn't want it that badly!!! Just my honest opinion. Not meant to offend...
