I wonder what the logic in doing that was? I guess it leaves a 1LE owner the option of using the same rear tire as the ZL1. I chose 10's with 285's all around for the ability to rotate, although since they are getting most of the wear on the track I may not bother.

I am not sure what to think of the different front and rear rims.... most of the time I was hoping to have all 4 be 10'' wide so when I kill the rear tires at the track I can just swap front to back but now that's out the window.... not sure if offsets were already different.

Anyhow, at the same time, I am glad they provided the wider rim because let's be honest...... how many of us are going to leave that motor stock?!?!?!? This might be one of the reasons they left it. I know the wider rear will hurt balance, but so is more power and an itchy right foot. At the same time, leaving them the same as a zl1 will make manufacturing different cars on the same line a lot easier to do and keep everything more simple... I think.

I do like the look with the wider rim too and the tires stretched out.

from what I hear, 1LE + fatter rear sway + differential, cradle, radius rod inserts will = awesome.

Not all that expensive and possibly DIY doable. This is based on ZL1 suspension experience. Check out the suspension mod forum once the 1LEs start shipping. My opinion is you do not need 100 extra HP. 50 more just from bolt-ons should get you a really fast car.

The other big piece is the trans.

With same-size tires, there's just a little less cornering stiffness on the narrower wheels and just a tiny bit more front slip angle. As an isolated effect, I'd expect just a tiny bit more understeer than if all four were either 10 or 11. Or 10.5, for that matter.

10" is not a particularly wide wheel for 285-wide tires.

Does anyone know why? Does a staggered offset have any advantages or is it just for looks?

You'd never notice a 5mm difference in front vs rear offsets without measuring equipment or strings unless you knew precisely what to look for and exactly the viewpoint required.

It appears that with a 1" difference in front vs rear wheel widths - starting at the SS level - they're holding the front and rear track widths equal at 63.7".

In the LS/LT, they're calling out only one wheel offset and letting the rear track "float" just a little (up to 64.1"). If appearance entered into the decision process for utilizing different wheel offsets at all, it would most likely have been here.

In this case mostly looks. However wider rear tires do add traction.
