Muffler delete with Magnaflow TRU-X Performance Resonated Universal 2.5" X-Pipe #1138
Alright guys, I'm completely new to doing mod to any vehicle post 1990. I've owned my 2012 Camaro RS (V6) for about a year. I'm trying to figure out how to get the best growl without replacing the entire system and I know straight piping is a waste of time. I'm considering a muffler delete with Magnaflow TRU-X Performance Resonated Universal 2.5" X-Pipe #11386. Looking for some advice, tips, weather or not this is logical for the sound that I'm going for. And yessss I get it, I got the V6, can't change it now. So the hate comments will be ignored.

I've got the V6 as well, I went with a Megnaflow cat-back exhaust system with a AFE intake. Sounds great!
Sounds similar to this |

A muffler delete with the Magnaflow resonated X actually sounds pretty dang good. I was pretty surprised.

I think you have a good plan. Go for it. Replace the stock H pipe with the resonated X from magnaflow, dump the stock mufflers and weld in some pipe. Last but not least, get yourself some nice looking tips. I went with 4" double walled tips from Magnaflow and they look great.
Later on if you feel it is too loud you can throw in a pair of resonators, or even mufflers if you feel it is way too loud. Otherwise if you love the sound, but got drone and can't stand it, you can add J-pipes (Helmholtz pipes) to the exhaust pipes and kill the drone at highway speeds. Best of luck, and don't forget to chime back in and let us know your thoughts.

Thanks to all, especially KMPrenger. I plan on going with your word. Seeing as it was almost exact to mine. I should have this running within a month. I'll post a video update then!

I did this exact setup to my car and love it. Sounds the best and its one of the cheapest costing exhausts out there.
Here is a link to some more info you want to check it out. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=347626

Now this has me interested. It seems to be the right mix of sound and volume.

This "resonated X-pipe" (#11386) by Magnaflow seems to be a pretty common mod for the V6; I had this installed and then removed the rest of the exhaust and replaced with 2.5" pipe (removed the factory resonators and mufflers) and I think it sounds pretty awesome.

I don't have any recordings of my own but I watched many a video on here and Youtube before having the exhaust done; here is one of many threads http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=421276 that I found in the process.
As most people say, everything sounds better in real life, so whatever you hear in the videos just think of it being better, louder, crispier, etc. I think it sounds great and you won't be disappointed; some say it sounds more exotic/European; I think it sounds sort of racecar-ish. |
