Styling Louvers in Front of Rear Tires

Ok guys and gals, please help me gain clarity on something. I have a 2010 white/black strips 2SS on order. Should have it here this week . However, the only thing I do not necessarily like about the camaro are the non functional rear louver styling cues in front of the rear tires. If they were actually open, they would look much better. That is where I need clarification. Some of the pictures of the SS's I have seen posted have the open louvers in them, or at least they appear to be open. Does the new 2010 model come with open louvers or it is an option that is paid for? Any help would be appreciated. That would take my love of the Camaro styling from 99% to 100%

Thanks much!

Are the black inserts aftermarket or something I can have the dealer do?

Aftermarket. Though the aftermarket could also make them real cutouts instead of just faux louvers.

No cut outs since it would let dirt and rain into the body.

This type of post cracks me up. I have seen multiple people complaining about the gills not being cut-outs on the 2010. The gills are a "STYLING" only feature of the car and always have been. No 69 Camaro ever had "functional" gills on the side. This style is a throwback to the 69 Camaro and the gills were never cutout. Educate yourself on the heritage of the car man. Its so sad that some of the people who have the money to buy an SS dont even deserve to drive it.

Well then why would you ask if they are a cut-out man? Thats all I am sayin. So many people keep asking this and there is no reason why it would be a cutout from the factory. I could see some aftermarket needs for brake cooling but even then only in special situations.

No attitude. Just surprised at how many people ask this question thats all.

so just because people are not familiar with the camaro heritage, but have the money to buy the 2010 camaro, don't deserve it? This is my 6th Camaro. I won't say I "know" the Camaro heritage. I have owned several Camaros and I bought the 2010 Camaro simply because I LIKE THE CAMARO. Who is anyone to tell me I don't deserve it?

True, but the 69 RS option did have the chrome around them and made i look so much nicer. For the 1200 RS package this should have been on the new car. IMHO

Dude I didnt say anyone specific didnt deserve it. If you have owned 6 Camaros I would consider you well versed in the car and definitely think you DO deserve it. Are you openly saying you have owned 6 of them but dont know anything about them? I seriously hope not cuz I would consider you a Camaro semi-enthusiast after owning that many.
