OUCH!!!

So driving home the other day was stopped at a light and started seeing smoke coming from the front of the car. So im like oh damn im overheating. start looking at all the gauges, and temp on the DIC and its fine...what the hell. So pull over and start to look at where its coming from. See what looks like oil and I smell freon. DAMN again. So I start to look around and cant really tell where its coming from. So I take it in this morning and get told the condensor has a hole in it from a rock. Of course its an accident not covered under warranty and its $700 to repair. Guy tells me "Dont know what your insurance deductible is but its got to be cheaper than that." He would be correct. After I get it fixed now will have to figure out what can I do to keep from happening again. Whats the luck of it getting up through the grill area and doing that....

Freaky things happen. A couple of weeks ago I noticed black rubber "dust" on my engine cover. Upon closer examination I looked down at the alternator pulley and noticed a small pebble wedged into one of the pulley grooves. It had stripped all the rubber out of one of the serpentine belt ribs--thus the rubber dust on the engine cover. It must have happened when the city put gravel on one of the roads I pass over each day, and one piece of rock just the right size managed to find its way into the pulley groove and lodge there. It was also just dumb luck that I happened to find the rock when it was visible. I could have replaced the belt and not found the rock and ruined a second belt.

I had the samething happen to me earlier this month. When my condenser went out, it killed the power steering too which isn't exactly fun.

Do you think the rocks came through the grille? If so, I'll tell the old lady and justify getting a heritage grille.lol.
