What Engine Oil Are You Running?

Like the title states, what are you forced induction guys running oil-wise? Maybe turbo guys specifically since thats what Im going with.

- Built 6.0, Wiseco pistons, Callies rods, Clevite bearings, etc. 76mm single turbo. Fresh build

Will be running Joe Gibbs BR30 for 2 break-in cycles: warmup and for 500 miles. Trying to figure out which oil to go with afterwards. Heard a couple main options: Joe Gibbs LS30, Amsoil (not sure what weight), Valvoline VR1 20W50, or Rotella.

I would go with what the engine builder recommends. In my case LME recommended Driven (Joe Gibbs) LS30.

I run Amsoil Zrod 20w50 when not road coursing. I like the corrosion inhibitors in this oil as well as gobs of ZDDP. For road course the plan is to add in Amsoil Dominator 15w50 and change it out soon after due to no corrosion inhibitors.

VR1 is good also and i sometimes run this

I also like Amsoil and will add some ZDDP. It's important to know that zinc helps protect in higher HP engines, but also damages catalytic converters.

Nope, pennzoil yellow bottle cheap ass 5-30W.

Why? Because that is what my builder said to use and what it was setup for. Listening to what other people run is useless.

Actually have Zrod in it now, but for 1st 3k miles to break in the motor I did run cheap ass pennzoil. Never even dynoed it on synth oil yet.

I don't see what the builder gains by their recommendation. Anyone with a little skill can change their own oil.

It has nothing to do with who is changing the oil. They set bearing clearances for a certain weight. You run what they build the motor for.
