Lots of misinformation in this thread as usual. The Brembo's are not standard on the GT in the front. The $1700 Brembo and rim upgrade only upgrades the front brakes, the rears stay the same and its only available on the Premium GT.

Camaro's on this site have run 12.5's and 12.6's stock, so even at a weight disadvantage its still coming down to a drivers race. The 5.0 is no joke and its about time Ford put a worthwhile motor in the GT.

Priced one out the way I'd buy it. 38.6k. My car stickered for 36.6k....Paid quite a bit less. Mustang will have to do better for me.

Base GT under 30k is awesome though. Definitely bang for buck. Hope ford doesn't drop the ball on their performance car (overrate it) like they have been known to do in the past. Looking forward to hurting some GT feelings when the 5.0 starts rolling around Houston.

Recently they have been known for underrating their cars.

Underrating a blower car is a little different. Trying to remember all the cars Ford produced that had a lot of "hype" and ended up eating crow.

99 Cobra
RX8 come to mind immediately

I will have to think on the others.

I DO hope they pull it off. Be nice to have some competition for a similar price range (GT500 little too pricey for avg SS buyers). Want to see the benefits of a competitive market!

I think the RX8 being down on power was more of Mazda's fault seeing as it has a rotary(wankel) motor.

Yes I realize that Ford owns Mazda. But Ford does not micro manage Mazda and everything they do. Much the same as when Ford owned Volvo.

If it would have been a Ford engine that ford rated, like the 99 cobra, in the RX8 I would place full blame on Ford. But how it sits I place most the blame on Mazda for overrating the RX8.

Is there a new review where the GT hits 12.6 or was that just a made up number? (serious question)

Not that I have seen. The best recorded and documented time was 12.7.
