You guys ever take a look at the Ford Performance book? Dealer installed blowers, tunes, etc on GT Mustangs and backed by a full factory warranty.

That's catering to the enthusiast!

Nevermind, the TR6060 is only good for 4255lbs... http://knudtsenchevyblog.com/tremec-tr-6060-mg9/

Here is the Getrag link

One thing to mention also. The TVS kit for the GT500. The performance package Ford offers to GT500 owners that allows them to retain factory warranty nets around 580rwhp for the GT500s.

So unless they detune the heck out of a 2010-11 GT500 with the TVS on it the car is going to be making north of 650hp.

And this does not even bring into the equation of more cubic inches.

Maybe the ZL1 will get a slightly beefed up TR6060 MG9. Possible?

2014 is around the time the Mustang will be updated also.

Possibly the GT500 being replaced by a turbo 5.0 Cobra.

Ford engineers are wanting to lower the 36xx lb curb weight also for the new stang.

I cannot find the official TR6060 MH3 maximum validated vehicle weight, if it follows the same guide lines as other Corvette Tremec's, it would have been tested at a 4000lb vehicle weight as was the MM6 and MZ6 but I believe those were used in LS1, LS2 and LS6's across a wide variety of GM vehicles. GM now has transmissions tailored to each engine, the M10 in the SS was tested at 430tq@3860lbs and the MG9 at 551@4255lbs. Seeing that GM now has Tremec build specific gear sets for each engine, it is possible that the MH3 is validated at 620tq@3400lbs which would make using the LS9 in the ZL1 IMPOSSIBLE.

Looking at the MG9's rating, if the ZL1 was to weigh a little less than the CTS-V the transmission was made for, it could produce a little more torque, maybe 15-25ft lbs more. If by chance GM had Tremec build the MH3 at a rated 4000lbs instead of 3400 then it is a possibility that the ZL1 could reach ZR1 numbers at a 4000lb curb weight, but since GM selected the MG9, I am more inclined to think that the ZL1 will be close to the 4255lbs minus about a buck for that "intended" extra GM was planning... say 566hp/561tq. Now with a possible 620hp/600tq+, 3770lb GT500/SVT Cobra on the way, it makes that previous proposal by GM kinda weak.

If I were GM, I would get with Tremec to see if they could get me a specific gear set for the ZL1.... RIGHT NOW.

Yes, but a small subset of all enthusiasts.

Yeah bud, the new Mustang will be out April 17th, 2014 and hopefully will drop about 200lbs.. The Camaro will follow in 2015-ish maybe longer, GM needs to run this model for awhile to make their money back.

Number 3,
Could you get me the TR6060 MH3 maximum vehicle weight rating please, it isn't widely discussed on the web and nobody I called knows for sure. Did GM stick with the standard 4000lbs or was it fitted just for the ZR1?

Edit: Even Tremec doesn't have the 6060's on the site.

You are right. Ford's biggest advantage over others is it's relationship with the aftermarket. That just breeds great cars and cheap power adders. Having a relationship with Whipple and Shelby means the GT500 is over-engineered to handle the 750 HP that the elderly tuner in Las Vegas expects from it. Partnering with the aftermarket keeps mods cheap, standardized, and readily available. A TVS upgrade for the Shelby to 700HP can be had for $3400. If you are not enthusiastic about that, then you are not a performance enthusiast. I could give a rat's ass who has 10 more horesepower on paper for the 2014 model year....
