IMO, the price is too high. The hype for this car, at our store anyway, isn't there like it was for the 5th gen. We have had only a couple people ask about ordering a 6th gen. Price may push one of those away.

A $4K jump in base price for a 2SS is big. Really big. It pushes it way out of Mustang GT Premium pricing and even though it will be faster, that's where our real competition lies. People will go buy a Mustang just because it's cheaper.

You need the MRC option for the 6th Gen to be as fast or faster than the current 1LE....

Just saying

Build a GT Premium with same options and price is almost the same. Yet you get HUD and the option of getting mag ride, sunroof and NPP in which you CANNOT get that on a GT.

LOLOL Too funny
As I said before... It's like these people wanted this stuff for free. Now that it is in the car, they want a bare bones -1SS with nothing.

Word of advice... They have that right now and for a little longer. It's called a 2015 Camaro 1SS.

Why are we even comparing these cars price-wise??????????
I don't think the price is bad based on what you get. But it's all extras I didn't have to get in my current 1SS. And if I add auto I'm at $40K. Then what's another $3-5k over 5-6 years of the loan?? So you might as well get a 2SS. I just went from $33K to $40k plus. And I wish people stopping saying things about what people can or cannot afford (this is not directed at you KM). That has nothing to do with it. Some people have there limit for what they are willing to spend on any particular thing. I have 4 open car loans right now based on my income. So sometimes it's not about that... But I will say this, I have to test drive it and see what my cost is when the supplier discount is made available.,

According to Al O, that is not the case. MRC makes it even better...

I'll believe it when I see it. Either the 2015 SS with the 1LE option has been overhyped or the 2016 1SS is truly an engineering masterpiece.

I think the price point or starting msrp price for each model and trim is about $2,000 to $2,500 to high. The new Camaro comes with many standard items and/or options that the Mustang or any other car in their performance or price category doesn't have but I still think Chevy made a big mistake and I doubt the new Camaros will outsell the Mustang just based off the price difference. I guess time will tell. I think the new SS's look great and I like the MRC option a bunch.

I did a quick new car inventory search using autotrader and I was surprised by what I found.

2014 Ford Mustangs=146, V8=122
2015 Ford Mustangs=9,404, V8=4,558

2014 Chevy Camaros=335, V8=132
2015 Chevy Camaros=14,387, V8=3,573

Price was capped at 50K so no Shelbys or ZL1's in this search. My advice to people is not to order a new gen 6 Camaro if you can wait because I think Chevy is going to have a hard time selling all these new gen 6's. Chevy is having a hard time selling gen 5 Camaros from my viewpoint and clearly has a ton of inventory compared to stangs. I think with the prices of the gen 6's if you can wait you should be able to get a decent deal on one but you will probably have to wait 6 months or so. My problem is I only want a Nightfall Grey Metallic 1SS coupe with a 6 speed, and MRC and I doubt I will find many Gen 6's like that without ordering one but I'm going to try to holdout and listen to my own advice hopefully.

Chevy hasn't started to deep discount their cars just yet. If you go back 1 year and did the same search Camaro's had less inventory over Mustangs as everyone was waiting for the new model year. Same is true now. You will see $2,500 - $4,000 incentives as GM clears out the 2015's. Crap they already cut the prices of the Z/28 and ZL1's awhile back and got rid of the extra inventory on those already.

I saw some SS's for under 30K which I think is a great deal. I understand I used to sell Fords and Dodges. I was just surprised by how many Camaros are available right now and how good of a deal you can get on a 2014 or 2015 currently which will only get better as the year goes on.

Here in SoCal 2014's are impossible to find. 2015's of all types are all over. Mostly 2SS and 2LT variants at my local dealers. Most have deals already of $2,500 off.

The dealers around me are flooded with inventory. One dealer has 34 1ss Camaros that have not moved in awhile.

When the 20% off deal was going on last year I saw some amazing deals online. The largest discount I came across was for 30% off a loaded blue 2ss with blue interior/white stripes for 29k somewhere east.

Because dealer inventory is even higher now compared to last year (combined with the gen6 coming soon) I expect at least a 25% discount from GM on 2015 models. The dealers should be able to help with another 5% in incentives.
