Please refer to the EDIT in Post #1...

Respectfully, this is NOT the ZL1 section...and, by association, NOT a GT 500-favored spot, either...

We're going to be hard press to get both a 1LE and Z/28 out of a Gen5. Marketing wise it would make sense to add the 1LE as an SS option on the Gen5 and introduce the Z/28 in the Gen6. At this point of the Gen5 life cycle give the SS owners something affordable to trade up to. We've already seen the movement from V6 to SS.

Sorry...she was unavailable...she's attending Hairdressing School in Dublin...
Now if I just had my old '69 Z/28 back, I'd be all set for St. Patricks day as it was Rallye Green.

I'd much rather see a 2SS/RS with the 1LE package (rims, spoiler, mag ride, quad exhaust GFX). Not a bad deal to cover the spread between an SS and a ZL1.

what's the point of a 2SS with 1LE? 1LE should be on the 1SS. less features and no leather.

There isn't a functional point to it, that's why it's an option. I for example would want leather in the car, just my preference. An option like this doesn't seem like much of a big deal.

Now coilovers vs Mag ride? That's a big deal.

Here's some interesting articles on the 1LE history, http://ve3eie.ncf.ca/1le_history.html

http://www.camarosource.ca/rare_specialty/1le/

and here's one that covers the same periods of time between the IROC, 1LE, and Z28 packages with referencing and information on all three.....

http://www.iroczone.com/about/iroc-z-history/

From a historical standpoint, I would like to see the 1LE if brought to market have the same "no frills" approach.

Good read. A 3100 lb 94 Z28? I bet that thing was a beast.

Careful with some of that anecdotal information...Pages 62-65 of this pdf file will "set the record straight...

http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...let-Camaro.pdf

I sold one of the two '95 Firebird Formula 1LEs built that year and, long story short, even with the a/c-delete it weighed a LOT more than "3100 lb. wet". In fact, in the winter of '97-98 we scored a Firebird Formula "body-in-white" straight from Ste. Therese...and transferred "only the necessities" to keep it streetable-legal...and THAT car weighed more than "3100 lb. wet"... It finished 2nd Overall @ One Lap of America 1998...tied for the highest Finish ever in the One Lap for a "pony car"...

1LE was, initially, a Big Brake Package...eventually added an aluminum driveshaft...eventually added some suspension tweaks...eventually deleted some "comforts"...and eventually became a free-flow ZEE/Formula option...and then disappeared from GM's OEM playbook after '99. And it evolved from the GM/Player's Challenge, a Series we raced in, '86-'88, and finished as high as 6th, year-end '86 (after missing 1 of 8 races because of...YUP...brakes!).

http://www.playerschallengeseries.ca/First.htm

For this latest concept of 1LE to work best, I personally believe the 1SS is its rightful starting point...least amount of equipment/weight/buck$...with a 2SS as a potential upgrade available for those who want the gription AND the comforts.

To see where we are, and where we are going, we should look at the past. For me, researching the past history is important as to what a future Camaro product should have in a modern "reincarnation" scenario. Caveat, information when taken as critical food for thought needs to be corroborated. Take only for Gospel what one reserches sufficiently. Not all the information is important, that is left to the reader to decide. There is a ton of info out there, and I for one make an informed decision based upon my research. I may post links, only as food for thought and hope others use the research process to find out factual information. Not just agree for the sake of agreeing, or taking another POV as Word. Knowledge is power as they say....

1LE "concept" was just introduced a few/several months ago, I suggest it will be available in the Spring of 2013 as one of the periodically released "editions". Z-28 still on hiatus until.....??? They can rush the 1LE into production if they want....but I hope they make the Z-28 in an 8 cylinder form in late 2015 as a 2016. Go ahead with 1LE, hold on the Z....it will compete against the ZL1 in sales as far as GM is concerned. Chevy would then be competing against itself as a Wise Man explained to me last year here on the board....

Looks like the 1LE is coming for 2013 models. Now hopefully this will put to rest about the Z/28 being on the 5thGen. It wont!...
