Which dealer to go to in North DFW for repair?

I have the oil cooler leak that is supposed to be somewhat common. I guess I'm going to have to take it in to get repaired but I'm really skeptical about taking my car to any dealership.

I'm more worried that they will screw something else up while it's in the shop....a scratch or a dent or something. Those usually end up being your word against theirs.

Does anyone have a dealer that you consistently use that seems to treat your car okay?

I bought mine from Classic Chevy in Grapevine and I might go back there but when I talked to the Service Mgr (whom I was recommend from my salesman) he went on to tell me how many cars they repair and how the oil leak is not a common issue at all. In fact he hasn't seen it before. I then tell him about the thread (plus the fact that ADM said it was common) and he gave me the whole.....don't listen to anyone on the forums. They don't have a clue. Well, I know better than that and that's another reason it scares me to take it in.

I bought my car from classic as well but didn't have a very good experience with their service manager. I have heard really good things about van Chevy off of 35E a few miles south of PGBT, might try checking them out. Maybe someone else can chime in on experience for van.

Edit: My experience with classic's service manager is close to yours as well. He was just a smartass to me and I felt like he was treating me like I knew nothing at all. Wasn't very pleasant.

Van Chevy in Carrollton wouldn't be too bad of a drive for me. Probably close to the same distance as going to Grapevine for me.

Stonebriar would be a good 45 min to 1 hour drive.

I'm contemplating maybe replacing the O-rings myself and then if it still leaks take it in. ADM said it was common for the actual oil cooler to be bad in the early Camaros but I've heard others just replacing the gaskets and fixing it.

I'm still torn. I just don't trust dealers. Especially for something that I can't wait on. The Service Mgr @ Classic said that I would have to leave it with him for at least the day.

I'm out in the Flower Mound area. I'm going to give the guys over at Van in Carrollton a call. I feel better that they have a performance department.

I'll be calling them later today to start figuring things out.

Go see VanChevy in Carrollton...Greg and Dave will definitely take care of you. I even take my fleet of 8 company vehicles to them. They are awesome...

Agree with most on here. Classic's car buying experience was great, their service department sucks. The advisers are nice, and I usually get a loan car, but it's not worth the hassle of dealing with idiot managers and techs. Mike Zorn (Service Manager) is first on my list of reasons why I will not go back there for service, even though I work literally across the highway.

I've been using Bankston in NRH, and I've never gotten my car back with anything else wrong, and the service drive manager is great. However there are quirks with them too. My timing cover is leaking, but they won't fix it without seeing it actually leak (dye test). They also won't replace my radio even though the silver paint is wearing off near the CD drive (though I'm pretty sure they're right that GM wouldn't warranty that since I work for a dealer).

Van got in contact with me when they saw my hate posts of Classic a while back. I don't know them at all, never got over there, but I would trust them. Anyone who is willing to watch this forum and recruit guys because they know how much we love our cars is alright by me.

P.S. - If Van has any advice on my timing cover (very visible leak), or radio I'd love to hear it. If I need to come out there no problem I can make it out on a Monday. Sry to thread jack Caverman!

Will never set foot on classics property again. Took my Silerado in for an oil chance and watched the service guy dent my door then deny he did it. James woods in Denton has since been my dealer of choice to include service work which has only been a couple minor things.

I took my car up to Van this afternoon. Unfortunatley I got there during lunch and some of the mechanics had already taken off. So, instead of waiting an hour or better (I was on my lunch break as well) I'm going to go back tomorrow morning.

He is going to put it up on the rack, clean the oil, and see if they can determine where the leak is coming from. If they can't then they'll put in the dye. I'll then have to drive a few days or so...probably until the next weekend...and then bring it back for them to inspect it with the dye in it. The service writer said that if they have to go with the dye that if I brought them oil + filter they would change the oil for free after they did the dye inspection.

So far, Greg (service writer) and Dave have been attentive to me and my car. Again, I feel better that they have a perfomance section so you would guess they have guys that really care about their cars coming in to get performance work done.

I'll update on how it all goes but so far so good. If they keep it up Van will be my dealership of choice.

Took my car into Van today and Greg Turk took care of me right away. He was completely attentive to me and the mechanic that looked at it has a 5th Gen as well. We talked a while about what was done to the car and what he had done to his. It makes me feel better when the mechanic loves Camaros as much as we do. They'll have more respect for the car than someone that doesn't and the Camaro is just another car.

Hopefully I won't need to go back but if I do need dealership work I will be going back to Van and seeing Greg.
