Were you or have you adpoted a child?

Were you or have you adpoted a child?

at 11am today my sister instantly became a Mom, the girl couldn't keep him in her dorm and so she picked my sis and her hubby to be the new parents through a catholic charity.

Was a matter of hours thing, nothing like you hear on TV that takes years.

7mo old boy named JR [like dallas]

only down side I see is it takes 6mo to be official

looking for tips, stories or what not.....

he will know he is adpoted soon as he can reason, since both of them are white and he is black. Which I say makes things easier, no worry about making a slip, or letting the cat out of the bag.

One of my cousins went through a long process to adopt 4 Columbian girls 2 years ago. There have been adjustments as they are a bit older, but they wouldn't trade it for the world.

4!? That's a HUGE decision there. They must be some very good people.

I haven't been out to see them yet, but fortunately my cousin's wife is hispanic, and was able to adapt to the differences in the Columbian language.

There were also some things that happened to the kids before this, that I've never discussed (and probably won't ever really want to know). Both of them are teachers, but he's about 2 years younger than me (I'm 49), so it's wearing on them.

The kids are doing amazingly well though, with your usual tantrums & such. Ages ranged from 13 to 6, and they are all sisters.

They've are learning English, and starting to adapt to American life. It's been interesting for them.

That's a special boy. His situation isn't his fault and what your sister is doing makes her one of the greatest mom's to have ever lived! I know this for a fact since my mom is one.

You line yourself up in the supportive role, you're the super cool Uncle. I teach all my nieces and nephews how to drive stick and start my motorcycle and rev up the engine nice and loud.

Nothing in this world tops a good home and good parents. Trust me.

my wife and I adopted our son last year. I met him when he was one day old. I can't picture life without him. He was given up for adoption at the hospital where she works as a nurse, and we were in the right place at the right time. It took 4 months to finalize.

Here's a pic:

My son will know he is adopted at an early age, because I don't want him to think that it's a bad thing.
