Your car has 400 HP to the crank, not to the wheels.

So you have to correct for the loss of power to the wheels which ranges between 10-20%

(as the power is transferred through the tranny to the axels and what not.)

More technical terminology, but that is the gist.

Looking at JBA's site, they look like cat replacements. Did they remove all factory cats and replace with only 2 HF?
Unless they eliminated the primary cats( which are attached with the secondary cats and manifold) I would not expect much.
The intake would make a difference, and the mid-pipes depending on their design, but it will not equal the gains from long tubes.
What parts does your buddy have?

The emoticon you used for the thread title is PERFECT for a thread about a stock L99 dyno. But hey man, I'm in the same boat too. I've got a near stock L99. The L99 needs a few more mods to keep up with it's LS3 counterparts, but that's what this hobby is all about, right?

Or a Dynojet reads really high...or apples aren't oranges, or whatever...

400HP x .8 (driveline/dyno losses) = 320. (320-313)/320 = 2%. I'd say it's a valid stock number, regardless of the dyno.

20HP gains for a CAI and exhaust? About right too...

Definitely the heat. Mine was 324 late September. I cannot imagine how hot it is in Bahrain.

It all depend on the dyno, temp, condition. 2 dynojets are never the same just like 2 different brand of dyno will read different. First of all, what type of dyno did you run your car on? Dyno is only good to a point of measuring how much you have gained or lost from your previous run. Just because you come out of a dyno and see low numbers does not mean that your car is slower than another car that might of dynoed higher within the same condition. Take it to the track where is the most accurate.

yes atmospheric conditions will effect the output... anyone ever notice the car is crisper on a cool day? Also no one dyno reads the same as another...

LS3's with SPOT ON shifting...

Out here theres a guy with exactly the same mods as me, same Z06 rims/DRs and same tuner but has an LS3...and only once, just once was his E/T close to mine/same...but traps higher - and thats a given. A well tuned, slightly modded bolt on L99 is just as good if not better as the LS3 in the 1/4

21 hp increase with just a CAI and some exhaust pipes... no reason to complain there...

8 -10 hp for CAI and 10-13 for tune... zero for pipes. Get some LT headers for real HP increase...
