As we get older out sense of time quickens. The older we get the faster time passes by or feels According to our bodies. Kinda crazy!

Light speed is about 186,000 miles per second.

A light year is the distance an object (moving at light speed) travels in a calendar year's time.

That said, 1 light year = 31,536,000 seconds in a year x 186,000 miles per second = 5,865,696,000,000 miles in a year's time!

North Korea receives food aid from the United States. The authorities tell the citizens that the aid is sent to them out of fear, and is a way that America pays homage to "The Dear Leader".

The charged particles polarize the molecules of that medium, which then turn back rapidly to their ground state, emitting radiation in the process. The characteristic blue glow of nuclear reactors is due to Cherenkov radiation. It is named after Russian scientist Pavel Alekseyevich Cherenkov, the 1958 Nobel Prize winner who was the first to detect it experimentally.

Here is a picture of the Reactor Plant that I work at with the lid taken off and the fuel being removed to put new fuel in it.....

Hey Sir Nuke,

(Nice pic!) That's a pretty puny core! LOL
What's your MWe output? We here at SSES put out 2 units - 1325 MWe each. Not meaning to brag...bigger is not ALWAYS better! LOL It does pay the bills though.

Indeed. Along these lines, time travel is theoretically possible. For instance, if you were to travel at near the speed of light to the 2nd nearest star and back, and you set your watch and it took you 10 years, when you got back to earth a couple hundred years would have passed.

I've worked with a number of celebrities over the years... two that have huge reputations for being total and complete jerks are Dustin Hoffman, and Gary Burghoff ("Radar O'Reilly" from M*A*S*H*). I'm here to testify that these are two of the nicest gentlemen on the planet, easy to work with, very decent fellas. Point being, don't believe everything you read about celebs...

... and, speaking of "show biz" trivia, I learned something interesting just last weekend. I was talking with a girl who is an up and coming actress, trying to break into the biz. She is highly stressed out, having moral issues plaguing her. She is in an acting class right now, and the class organizers "sell" IMDB credits. She's purchased them, as she's been instructed that if your resume is well padded, you have an immensely higher chance of getting hired. However, she is now highly conflicted over the fact she has a significant list of TV shows to her credit... that she has never had a thing to do with at all... never even been to the sets. She knows it's wrong... but also knows that without those credits, she'll never get anywhere in Hollywood.

PUNY??? what you talkin' bout willis!!

Our Plants are the biggest in the USA, bar none.......and YES Everything in Texas IS BIGGER! lol

EACH of which we have TWO, and puts out 3852 MWe Thermal, and 1417 MWe/Hr Electrical.

For those of you that are not familar with a PWR Nuclear Plant, the picture you are looking at is our Reactor with the top off and about 3/4 of the fuel out of the core. The two pieces are BOLTED together w/ Studs and Nuts....to give you an idea of the size, the silver disc's at the rim are covers for the stud holes, the studs are 8' in diameter. The fuel you see is larger than any other in the U.S.A., its 2 foot longer than any other, and the only other plant in the WORLD that has fuel that size is in Belguim, it and ours are the only plants that use the XL (extra long) fuel in the world.

so who's plants are puny???

:{D

Wade, I see you are at Susquehanna, I'm at STP.

If you weighed all of the ants on earth, they would outweigh all of the humans on earth by 27 times!
