Shorty Header Advice Please!!

I recently bought a 3000 mile 2010 SS with the L-99 and am considering installing shorty headers. Someone who has done this or helped please suggest a brand to buy. Are there any negative aspects to this?? Thanks.

Any reason why not LTs? I would skip the shortys and get high flow cats, thats were the power is. Shortys without high flows wont be worth it, high flows and a cat back would sound good with a nice power gain.

We would recommend long tubes as well. But if you're sure you want shorites you need to check out the new ARH shorty headers. We would also recommend a set of Solo high flow cats!

I had the JBA shorty headers and mid-pipes and they made some good power. If I was to do it all over again it would be JBA Catted mids and a catback with a CAI and custom tune. "No headers"

The JBA mids will make more rwhp then a CAI or a Catback.

My JBA Shorties and High-Flows are making great power and I'll be running them with my supercharger install this week.

Any reason why you want to do shorties? Is it because of price?

The biggest restriction on our exhaust is the fatory cats. That's what you need to focus on getting rid of. You would see more HP gain from using factory headers with HF cats than you would with shorties and factory cats.

Do yourself a favor and wait to do long tube headers with a tune. If price is an issue there are some relatively inexpensive options available now.

Keep researching before you pull the trigger on shorties. I think you'll change your mind.

As others have said....if you are going to mess with headers, go long tube. Save your pennies and do it right.....

I just bought Texas Speed's LT headers (304 Stainless Steel) with Cats for $782.00 shipped.

Shorty's are primarily used for changing the sound of the exhaust, LT's will add (free up) power but require that the car be re-tuned.

If you are not wanting to have to tune the car, shorties are the way to go. I would look at JBA or BBK. The quality is top notch and the price is hard to beat.
