Love Bug Issues

This will be my first love bug season in SWFL. I searched this forum to get an idea as to the best way to clean them off; but, most of the posts were just nasty comments about the bugs.

Any way to clean them off without damaging the finish, or should I just put my cars in the garage and get myself a rental?

Remove them before they dry and cake on. Use soap, water and dryer sheets to remove stuck on bugs. Always keep a good coat of wax on the front end

Soak them with water and they will soften and come off easy, no chemicals needed at all. Do it daily.

Don't let those little bastards dry on the car. Their bodies are like acid on the paint, it'll eat through the paint. Wash and wax. Clean daily if needed.

Park it until they are all dead or gone. Mine hardly sees the light of day in early and late summer because of those freakin bugs. Hate 'em!!!

Like Kiernans88 said, wax and don't let them stay on your paint for long.

All you have to do is wax the car well and maybe some extra on the front and mirrors. Then clean them off daily. The only time they are an issue is if you let them sit on the car for days and weeks. I have lived here 13 years. Daily drive mine now for over 3 yrs and have not one single love bug mark. Wax and wash properly and it's over after a few weeks time twice a year.

Do what I do: drive so fast that when you hit them, they pulverize.

What Dave said, and he is a bit of a freak in keeping his car spotless! We both use Adams waxes.

Another option is to get the Ohiospeed Stretch bra for when you're driving on the highway. My car doesn't go on expressways (i.e. turnpike, I-95, etc.) without the bra on, since it protects me from the bugs and rock chips which are much more of a concern when traveling at those speeds.

It's only $120 and it can be taken off and put on in less than 2 minutes.

Sadly i don't get to keep it as clean as i'd like anymore. Too much kid stuff going on to have the time. I have not seen your new ride yet. Looks great. See you up at Pony Wars.
