had the car lowered this week at a local speed shop, installed h&r springs. went today to get the alingment done & there saying i need camber adjustment bolts, which happen to cost $110. do these bolts have to stay there or would any bolt that fits in there to adjust the camber,adjust, tighten & then remove work ? i'm talking about the front, the rears are something different.

The top hole on the front struts is elongated to allow for camber adjustment. A M10x1.5 threaded bolt may be inserted in the knuckle just above the top strut bolt to aid in setting the camber with a load on the car. There is a threaded hole already there that will allow for the insertion of this bolt.

If the shop is unable to reach the proper adjustment, the strut holes may be elongated slightly more to achieve their setting. DO NOT elongate the knuckle hole

if you look through the front of the top wheel you can see a threaded hole, thats what they are saying is used to adjust the camber.
i think i'm getting hosed, the more i think about it ,that is to just to do the adjust.

We have lowered a few new camaro's the front is elongated from the factory,so far we have not needed any more adjustment than what is there.The threaded hole in the spindle is for installing a bolt to help make the front camber adjustment but is nothing special.The rear how ever may need a larger camber\toe adjuster kit depending on how low you go.We are using the pedders cam kit when needed which gives more adjustment range.

Ive lowered three camaros and all off them were aligned to factory spec with no other parts needed

You don't need that, the front has the top hole is elongated for the camber alignment, I lowered the front 2" and did not have this BS.

Yeah... that's what I've run into... local shop does an amazing job doing alignments but they are waiting to get the specs too...

Also, $110 for camber bolts is a bit extreme... yikes! You should be able to get a set of camber bolts for under $40!

The PDUSA5420, allows you to get your rear cambers to an ultimate setting that is just getting into specs. This is a great setting to reduce understeer. It does this by making a thicker eccentric with the mounting hole in a different location, to give the eccentric more throw.

PDUSA5420 The importance of this kit is to make your casters adjustable, while increasing them at the same time. We did throw in a camber adjustable bolt. But if this is all you need, just buy one at the hardware store and install it. BE CAREFULL!!!!! NO ONE TOLD MONROE IN THE USA THAT THEY NEEDED A BLOCK FOR AN ADJUSTABLE BOLT. SO IF YOU APPLY TOO MUCH PRESSURE, YOU CAN DENT TOE STRUT ASSEMBLY

100 bucks for camber bolts is crazy-if i had them cheaper then id think about it

Damn! The installer kept the 2 sheets I received from the Chevy Dealer!

Sorry, my fault I guess!!

My dealer just printed me out the pages on the alignment as well as the specs. I suggest just going to your dealer and getting the info. I'll have to remember to get the papers again next time I stop in...
