I say - add some competition tires, like Sport Cups (add those to ZL1 while you're at it, GM ), more aggressive MR-tuning, coils, and stab' bars, and wreck some Mustangs.

I honestly can't see the point in a Z28 in the current 5th gen. I would be willing to bet that if we do see it's return it won't be until the 6th gen comes around.

My money is on the 1LE = Z28. My memory sucks lately but I'm recalling that the 1LE designation was an 'option package' you could get on some cars. Am I on the mark with that? With the exception of '69, Camaro has had the flat Camaro, RS, SS, and Z28 designations. I'm looking at images of the 1LE and I'm not seeing those characters written on the car anywhere as does the RS, SS, ZL1, and previous Z28s. I also don't recall a 1LE in the historical lineup for Camaros as a proper designation. Just saying...

I like the idea that the Z28 could be a lighter weight version of the 1LE. That would be quite an improvement.

LS - Luxury Sport
LE - Limited Edition (typically changed where it sat in the lineup depending on package - in this case it should be below the SS in this list)
LT - Luxury Touring
RS - Rally Sport
SS - Super Sport

Then you had the Z28.

Does that make any sense? Shrugs.

My thoughts are more based on car names in the GM umbrella. I remember my father (GM Exec) bringing home a Buick Regal that had a mohawk which had "3.8 LTR TURBO" as a promo vehicle. The next year was the year of the Grand National. Remember the Pursuit followed by the Pursuit G5 followed by G5. Grand Am -> G6. Montana was a package version of the van (and memory is failing yet again on the original name of the van), soon to be renamed to Montana. I'm thinking the 1LE is a promo package which is gearing up to be the Z28.

I'd like to think it's an educated guess. (Note to GM: Humour me)

DGAF?

Yeah because GM wants to lose the market in states that require SMOG because they are too cool to worry about profits right?

My money is on this. SS designation simply being replaced by Z/28. Same car, new name.

i'm with Denis,i feel like it will probably replace the "1le" in the 6th gen,but way back G.M. said they would build special models of the Camaro every 6 months...?maybe we will see a "z28 Panther edition"

If The Z28 comes in Gen5 I think it will be equal to the 1SS-1LE in price and general performance but will be probably lighter so more oriented at track days than daily driving. So better at the track harder on the roads.

How ticked would everyone be if the Z turns out to be a V8 apperance package only?

For those of you who want a 5th Z28 badly with more HP I hope you get it, but I will wait for the 6th Gen offering. My main reason to wait is weight, why take a Gen 5 3,800lb Z28 when I can get a 3,400lb Z28 with a DI V8 likely to have more power then the SS now in a few years. IMO the only acceptabel gen 5 Z28 would eb an engine similar to the LS7 and equal to the 1LE performance parts.

The Z28 is easily going to be the foundation for ultra-performance in the 6th Gen Camaro....... That is why I am waiting for it.....
