And so I upgraded...
Hello everyone. New to the forums here.
I decided to take the plunge and upgraded my vehicle situation. I traded in my 2009 Cobalt LT for a 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS and I'm never looking back........ Having a blast with the SS. At the moment its stock. It is apparently a relatively early built as it has thos little GM emblems at the bottom of the fender area. (unfortunately I cannot determine its exact date of birth as that sticker at the bottom of the engine compartment is faded too much and not readable) Anyone have any suggestions for some decent and relatively inexpensive upgrades or modifications? As mentioned before, its stock at the moment, a 2SS/RS automatic. thanks in advance. |

Exhaust and springs are where I would start. Even a cheap Muffler Delete can sound decent, and springs really help to fix the 4x4 look.
Enjoy.

L99 or LS3? High flow cats and cold air intake would a couple good performance upgrades.

How many miles, also look around on the main board, there will be people that you can send the vin to and they will give you everything you want to know about it.
I only ask about the miles because you may need to worry about valve springs. I have a 2010 also, and broke a yellow valve spring (luckly didn't drop a valve into the motor), according to my mechanic those springs are known to have issues, and I just replaced all of my valve springs with blue (newer ones). I am 99% stock with just a muffler delete.

If that car has ever had 87 Octane in it, it is running off the wrong fuel table. You may want to pull fuses #5 and 20 in the engine compartment and leave them out for a few hours. These cars require 91-93 octane. I believe its the 2010 and 2011 cars that are unable to change to the high octane table once the correct fuel is used. You should see a performance boost if it was using the wrong table.

68RSZ--------its a L99, automatic trans
Mortious------it has slightly over 42k miles on it. Incyder------I have no idea if it ever had 87 octane in it, bought it from a dealer, apparently I'm the third owner of it. It seems to have good power so not sure about previous octane usage. Overall it was well taken care of. Have a Carfax report on it, no problems showing on that report. But, thanks for the tip about the fuses. Prolly worth it to do that just in case. |

Another thing you might want to check is the MAF sensor. Apparently there are "weak" and "strong" ones. I forget the part number that determines which is which, but a quick search here can point you in the direction.

Oh, and got a build sheet copy from a Chevy dealer here in town, now I know what my car left the factory with. And I know its upcoming birthday as well. It came off the line 8/3/2009. |

Once you start upgrading your never stop it's like a sickness, my first thing was what Caroline said: muffler deletes it makes the car sound like a camaro. Now she's cammed and I'm saving for gear swap.

Don't buy those 3 separate... ever. Buy them in a package and save big. I'd be more than happy to find you a package you like, I'm not a vendor... I just like shopping for parts lol edit: too late http://marylandspeed.com/cold-air-in...ue-p-4791.html This right here is a long tube headers + cold air intake package, that includes arguably the best CAI we can buy for these cars. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=377810 JDP also has some amazing deals on packages too!
