Yeah my last car was a G8 GT with DT tri y's catless. Only time I smelled anything even remotely was if I was sitting in traffic with the windows down and had a tail wind.

I was thinking that there would have to be some cutting but I did some searching and I found a 3in (outside Diameter) to 2.75in (Inside diameter) adapter.

If what I'm thinking is right the 3in outside diameter should fit inside the catted connection pipe (3in) and the 2.75in inside diameter should fit over the 2.5in exhaust and I can just clamp them together?

Open headers... straight pipe... same thing right? Solo Mach XL is just straight pipes with J pipes. is it not?

I can't wait for the looks!

I'm not so sure you can clamp down 2.75" to 2.5".....maybe...but that's a lot of metal to move. Maybe someone else that has done this or knows a lot more about pipes can chime in.

This is the best scenario. Put the headers on in the morning or your next off day take it to a Velasquez muffler shop, these guys are all over the city. Ask them to make you a mid pipe that will go onto a 3"(your header collector) to a 2.5 (your catback) and stay catless. Then sell your catted midpipes. The guys at Velasquez shouldn't really care. If they can't which they can cause they have done that for me many times, then just have them mod your midpipes to BOLT or SLIP right in allowing you to remove them. Please please be careful with the rear bumper, the 2 holes where the tips come out of are very weak. Just FYI.

Actually now thinking about it a local shop did a catless connection for my uncles vet. They won't install it but if you give them the dimensions they will build it to your specs.

Why not put the reducer after the 3" cats? ... I don't think a muffler shop would have a problem doing that at all.

Or do you just want to go catless?

Not quite! Open headers as in No cut outs, no exhaust whatsoever. Just headers! It's louder than straight pipe. It busted off like my 67 Camaro did! Very loud!

Mine smells constantly, but I love it.

I called dynatech they want 370 for the 2.5in catless connector and 480 with cats!

I'll probably just do the reducer but covering all my options. Reducer seems the cheapest.
