Don't like the sound of that.

That can't be true! They aren't even in the order bank yet and there is no allocation. A buddy of mine works at Dodge.

Hurry up Chevy, lol.

I agree. If I were a Dodge man, I'd be pissed (not that I could afford one, but still...where's my chance at getting to own the top of the line?). That would be just plain wrong.

I read on newdodgechallenger.net that Dodge doesn't even plan on making that many. From what I read production numbers are going to be about equal to the '04-'06 GTOs (20-30K per year). Say hello to markups from hell. Let's get a pool going on how much the first one will auction for at Barrett-Jackson. My guess is $200-300K.

I guess the good thing about a low production is that you won't see yourself coming and going all the time.

I'm not too knowledgeable about dodge, but I though there was only going to be a V8 challenger, which means they will be R/Ts automatically. Kinda like the Charger with the base V8 is the R/T.

I would also be surprised if they didn't plan on a SRT-8 model in the future as well.

I was hoping for a better picture - that car is nicely cammo'd

Chrysler said all along it will not be produced in great numbers. I'd guess they want to jump into the pool, sell some cars and get out, but we'll see

I was reading on another forum that that Australian mule is actually just a mule for the shortened Zeta platform itself, not specifically the Camaro. I hate to be the naysayer. But on the other hand it looks like GM is letting the other automakers show their hand first, so the Camaro can make any needed last minute changes to one-up the competition.

As far as I'm concerned - And I'm trying to be as un-baised as I can - they've already one-upped everybody by not going totally retro. The Camaro appeals to such broader range of people than the other two...Oh, and they've got 420 + hp thundering behind them......

I have to agree with you on that one. But I'm sure GM will have some last-minute things up their sleeve depending on what the competition comes out with.

Oh, sure...No doubts there.

STORY:
One of my teachers told me of a car concept that was made in Clay and previewed to a friend of his (higher-up company-employee guy). Well, anyways...the guy checked it out and said "Great, I like it - but where's the mufflers?" The designers and sculpters forgot to put exausts in the rear of the car! So the lead designer grabbed a pop-can that was laying nearby from lunch, cut it in half and shoved the covered ends of each into the rear of the clay car..."There" he said, "dual exaust."
END STORY:

I laughed my ass of when he told me this story!

Couple of thoughts after re-reading this post;

1. If someone capture's pics. of the Camaro, they'd better also be on the lookout for the dreaded black Suburban.

2. Form what I've heard, the Challenger is to be more expensive. My belief is that it'll be offered in less numbers with high performance content, ie; 425hp Hemi (maybe?), loaded w/ options.

Who knows. One thing I do know...I can't wait to see production Camaro's in dealer showrooms and out on the street!
