another 3rd gen for me?

adding to my third gen collection... i found an 87 IROC-Z 305 TPI, 5-speed... needs the motor swapped or rebuilt due to a rod issue, (i still have the 305 from my 92 RS so the swap wont be an issue...)
the IROC is in pretty good shape, body looks solid, and straight, seats are a bit worn, but i'll end up swapping them out for the seats from my 92 RS since i'm putting racing seats in it.

I think 3rdgens are the best (And certainly the most unique looking.) generation so far. The shame is that the aftermarket has never embraced them like they have embraced other generations. With more than 500,000 made, you would think there wuld be a lot more aftermarket support.

ok, so after a week in the field with no electronics, i'm back with a vengeance... found a red 88 IROC 305, auto for a reasonable price, and i am fairly certain i want to buy it. am looking at a couple other 3rd gens as well (one is a white 88 IROC, and the other is a 92 Firebird with a 400 small block), we'll see what happens in the next week or so...

Too bad you aren't closer. I have a 92 that I want to trade for a full size chevy. It's street driven, a/c still works....black, t tops, immaculate interior. O and it runs 11.41@124.6 all motor on drag radials. Has a Haltech programmable ECM and TPIS mini ram intake. 18mpgs also.

Here is a link to a video of it. Yes, it's an automatic revving that quick. And that was a lean pop when I revved it lol...I need to add more fuel to the throttle squirt.
