my (homemade) solid (not tint) side marker blackouts (w/pics)

well,

i had a strip of gloss black vinyl laying around,

and was sick of the precut pieces you can buy for the side markers,
as they never seemed to fit the side markers perfectly,
and dirt always gets underneath them.

so i had an idea to use the gloss black vinyl (not tint)
to do the side markers.

i popped out the side markers to make it easier to work with,
instead of trying to do it on the car.

obviously no light would get through the solid color vinyl,

so after i put the vinyl on the markers
i cut small rectangles out right where the light shines through,

it looks similar to the concept side markers but the slit does not go all the way across the side marker, just a small rectangle in the center.

not sure how legal they are at the moment,
but if i get pulled over i can peel them off

i think they look great, whatcha think?

ill post better pics once the sun comes up all they way LOL

That looks good .

Another idea would be to cut off the top . To blend in with body lines.
Like show stoppers .

+ another idea . Color matched vinyl .
It helps because I felt the yellow or the blackouts were throwing off my hockey stripes .

Edit : lol he said it first ^^

that might look really cool on a black car, i wanted to do these in matte black ,but until i get a piece of matte black the gloss will have to do.

or maybe ill try the carbon fiber too

the rears are easier, just lay under the back of the car and use a flashlight, youll see the tab that has to be released.

the fronts while slightly more time consuming are easy too.

you have to take 3 allen screws out to let the fender well be pulled back so you can pop the tab, still a piece of cake

then the socket just turns slightly to release it from the housing,
be careful theres not much slack in the wires when you get them out!

took me all of 10 min to pop all 4 out though.

all cars have to have side markers,

and at least here in pa the fronts have to be orange
and the rears have to be red,

otherwise id change them both to orange to match my car
