If you will go to track:
  • Invest in a high capacity engine oil cooler, which would set you back about $800+. Though less effective, you could also just replace the radiator ($575 shipped; DeWitts), and hope for the best.
  • You will also need brake ducting. The quantum ducting kit runs for about $265.
  • 1LE stock suspension and tires work great. For a tight budget, I would not touch those.
  • OEM pads are good, but to keep them for the street (they wear prematurely at the track temps), you should at least replace the front pads with race pads. Unlike what you'd think, you don't necessarily need to replace the rear pads. EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution, part of your ABS) will take care of the bias issues. Actually, ZL1 brake upgrade, which you might also do for $1200, greatly increases the front bias, yet noone complains about it due to this system handling bias for you.

Track days and driver education. Looks far for you but I've always wanted to do Bondurant, especially since they train in the 1LE.

I've wasted so much $$ over the years, drive it for awhile before you make any modifications, then you won't be regretting any premature decisions.

This with a dynotune. The added 50 rwhp and improved throttle response will thrill you every time you turn the key.

First thing I would recommend is a catch can. After that it is up to you. How do you plan to use the car? Do you want to improve performance, appearance, both?

To keep your warranty and have some extra performance and protection, this is what I did. Clear bra/shield, rock guards, catch can, CAI Inc intake, and a Bo White throttle body. To get rid of potential wheel hop, I also did BMR trailing arms, subframe bushings, and upper control arm bushings. Congrats on your 1LE

Agreed, spend some time with it and you'll start to notice places you'd like to improve.
