After shelving this project for several months (my lift failed at my shop) I am finally going to try and get things finished up. I have a new two post lift installed, and am working on getting the ZL1 rear end changed out. I'll be upgrading the wheel hub/bearings and rear upper shock mounts with ZL1 parts too.

I had a little time this week to work on the Camaro. The ZL1 rear is in, and axles installed. I also got the rear upper shock mounts and rear hub/bearings swapped for the ZL1/1LE parts.

No, it was an old center post lift. One day it just wouldn't pick up a car. It had a broken air line under the concrete slab. It was cheaper to replace it than repair it. The two post lift is way better since the entire area under the car is clear.

You won't regret it. Not to mention you can get most everything done faster on a lift.

Almost everything is back together. I still need to set the ride height on the rear coilovers, install the exhaust and put fluid in the rearend. Got to flash the computer for the ratio change to 3.73 too.

While the car is on the lift, I decided to fit the ZL1 belly pan. I need to cut and modify it a bit to get around the turbo plumbing and the front splitter. I have read that most mount it with sheet metal screws. I don't like that idea. I decided to use nutserts instead. I am using 8mm which requires a 1/2 hole be drilled. It is no more difficult than installing a pop rivet. At least I know I won't have any stripped threads in the foreseeable future.

I did manage to swap out the front hubs for the ZL1/1LE bits last night. Yes, I replaced the caliper bolts as per the GM instructions. My life is worth more than twelve dollars for a new set of bolts. You can see the difference in the two hubs in the pic. Now, on to the aero bits!

Ok. I got the ZL1 underbelly tray modified and installed. It wasn't too bad of a job. I trimmed it with an air cutoff wheel and drilled holes for the j-clips I installed. I had to install the clips, since you can't access the front part of the tray to install nuts. My local Lowe's had all the hardware in stock, even the stainless bolts that I mounted it with. I needed to do this to make it fit with the APR front splitter that was installed.

Damn nice car Frank. I have an ABM as well and was looking at doing the Seibon vented fenders, but after reading about the trouble you had fitting your I may reconsider
