Meh. I don't know. Something just tells me that it won't happen.
And a 600 horsepower Camaro is already encroaching on ZR1 territory. The LS9 gets 638 HP.

Look at it like this...

Yes, the Camaro will step on Corvette's toes a little bit. Some Camaro's will be faster and have more power then a regular base C6. But then it's probably not competing with that base C6.

The SS is equivalent to a base C6.
The Z28 will probably be around the ZR1 but will never get more power than it.

The Z28 will might beat the Z06 out (At least in terms of power).
Or it might be just rated under the Z06. It's anyones guess right now.

But the Camaro will never be GM's Corvette. It won't get more power then the Corvette it could potentially run against. It just won't happen.

Yeah, but I don't think many people are willing to pay $50K+ for a Camaro. If I had the $$$, I would, but I don't think that I could. If that's what I have to wait for, I guess I'm jumping on the SS band wagon and throwing an SC on the car.

If I got a LS9 in my Z28 for just under $50K, I'd eat my own foot. I don't know how I'd operate the clutch pedal... Who knows how far GM could take Camaro and keep the price at an average Camaro-buyer's level?

Agreed. Theres no way I'd even be able to afford it at 40,000. But the SS camaro is certainly going to be stepping on base vette toes (Yeah, its heavier, but it will also be significantly less expensive) and thats good enough for me.

I think being that pedders does suspension upgrades they were referring to the chassis. The new Camaro is getting a very high end chassis capable of competing with any other mid size coupe out there. (not including super cars of course) The corvette uses transverse leaf spring while unique they are not easily adjustable, making the zeta (zeta II in the case of the camaro) platform superior in some respects to the corvettes. I doubt that he is saying the Camaro will be faster but with some upgrades it could pull more gs on the skid pad and could beat the corvette in slalom these don't translate into a faster car as there are other things to consider weight and aero dynamics for instance.
