Garage Floor covering
Anyone do their garage floor with the interlocking tiles or the roll out vinyl floor covering? Looking at doing this, floor is too old and stained for epoxy so I like the cover-it-up option. Wondering what people have tried, rubber, vinyl, plastic tiles etc?

Sorry I did the paint on floor covering with the speckles that you add in. I got it at lowes, hope this helps.

Rolling along...

I had RaceDeck in my last garage. I liked the way it looked and it held up pretty well. My only complaint about it was the noise it made when I walked across it (plastic on concrete). The nice part of it was that it didn't trap moisture underneath it, like the roll out vinyl flooring will.
I've got about 700+ sq. ft. of it in storage that's going back down in a garage as soon as we close on the sale of our current home. Here's a picture of the old garage.

IMO epoxy is the way to go. The stains can be cleaned and cracks can be repaired. U-Coat-It is not cheap but I'm very pleased with the results. Ucoatit.com has videos showing the step by step preparation and application. Jay Leno uses it in his garage!

Leno now pushes tile also. The epoxy is nice, too much degreasing and etching for me.The tiles just look great to me and the vinyl roll out is a great price and no peeling

I used Griots two-part epoxy paint, very easy looks great and it's been on for ten years with no peeling. I also have always had cars on it. It's also very easy to mop and clean if needed. Highly recommended.

Racedeck for me too!
It has a Diamond Plated texture to it for grip. Very comfortable to stand/lie/work on....

Racedeck and love it - they have specials several times a year and you can get it at a pretty decent price.
Here ya go (Ignore SSR - gone!): SSR Replacement but notice I was able to match the tiles!: Looking back at wall:

That stuff is silly pricey. You could etch, patch and epoxy the whole garage for $200. You should be at least a grand ahead at that point and it looks very nice also. Don't buy the do it yourself hardware style stuff. Purchase the 2 part commercial stuff from Sherwin Williams or another major paint store. I've had to do a bunch of it over the years. My well used car shop made it 5 years before I put another coat on it. I'm not sure dragging transmissions and heavy welding would be nice to the other products. I'd also like to see the snap on stuff hold up to my forklift.
I understand that not everyone is going to abuse the floor, but I like stuff tough. |

Does this serve a purpose for people just using their garage to store cars? Or is it just for someone who is working on their cars in the garage?

The stuff look great and I'm sure it holds up well. It is sold for commercial applications also. I just went with epoxy over the years because I'm really hard on floors. I have considered it for the garage bathrooms and the front office though. The price makes a difference also for me. The smooth, gray, one color floor I have makes it easy to find dropped nuts and bolts and clean up spills. No amount of fuel, oil, or any other chemicals penetrate it regarding automotive work.
