stainless steel headers ? and more maybe

I hate rust and i have been told all stock Camaro headers rust. No matter what Camaro you have. SS or ZR1 doesn't matter. So i have a brand new 1LE that i will be putting new stainless still headers on and wile i am at it . Dose anyone have any suggestion ? . I do not want to go crazy here. I am thinking the new headers will give me 30 Hp another 40 or 50 would be nice. that would put me at around 500 . But i don't want to have to tune the car or mess with the computer . Just have some bolt ons that look good when the hood is up.

Well long tube headers are going to require a tune if you want to get those hp numbers out of them. Not to mention you'll most likely get a check engine lite and need the tune to get rid of it. You could go shorties and not need a tune but then you won't get those hp numbers.

You have to check this section of the forums:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=11

Notes: 2 levels of recommended stainless headers. $800 vs 1300 (with cats-something like that, but you get the idea).

There is your answer, short and simple.

If you dont want to touch tune, etc.

This is your answer hands down: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...aders+shorties

And get them coated...otherwise they will discolor (rainbow effect but no rust).

All stock manifolds rust because they are cast iron.

If you want the HP gains of headers, then you're going to need to get the car tuned.

That is because only the COPO (Not sure on Z/28) comes with headers, all other models have manifolds.

And for the record, if you're talking RWHP (Not GM rated crank HP) you'll be closer to 415 RWHP with headers and a tune, not 500. I don't know of any owners that would measure in crank HP over RWHP once modded.
