How to read my vin #

I know this sounds like a stupid question. But, I don't know how many last numbers I count in the number. I could be 16768 or 6768. Please help:iono

Look at your VIN plate on the top of your dash. You can see it from the outside of the car, standing on the driver side, looking at the bottom corner of the windshield.

What's the check digit for? Also, if there are only 60k Camaros out, why is mine 144529? Just curious, lol.

Check digit is a calculated digit to help verify that the vin is valid. It helps to prevent communication/copying errors.

Regular production started with 100001. Cars in the 000xxx are CTF (captured test fleet) and other vehicles that GM built before the start of regular production.

After the 99,999th camaro is built then what number will change to show the 100,000th?
Would i be correct to think the last 6 digits of the VIN# would be 200,000?

So how is it possible mine had 0 miles and it's VIN: 000028?

Just curious.

Disregard the 1 at the beginning, after they hit 99,999 cars the next one should be VIN 200001 rather than 100001.

See bold

For example, there was a big event in texas that they made a whole bunch of cars for.
