Keep this in mind, that "lol 1.8 litters", as you put it, will make better than 250hp . Not bad for 1.8 liters.

I like it. Very slick looking. Where did you hear that 250hp figure from? The RX-8s rotary engine is a tad weak, so it would be great to see it get some good power figures.

That's the rumor in Mazda land. I believe it considering that the RX8 had 238hp.

I owned a 1993 RX7 R1. That was the best handleing car I've driven to date, and was very quick. Too bad it was so expensive to fix otherwise I'd still have it.

Don't those engines have nasty durability problems?

Yes sir, the word around the block is just this... maybe some mazda owners or people that own a rotary engine car can chime in... I would like to know more about this myself.

But ahh-dunno about that car yet..... looks like a beefed up RX-8 really... I suppose its nice.

It's a very robust engine design. I don't know about the Mazda's specifically - but, imagine a VERY mild cam with 3 distinct 'lobes', and 3 "razor blades" on each corner where the 'lobes' meet. This is the crankshaft, rings, pistons, and camshaft all in one, basically. This crank is pretty much the only moving part. These blades constantly drag around the "cyllinder wall" to seal the separate chambers. <= So I can imagine some durability issues among other things.....

I only have a limited understanding of rotary engines, and they're definitely different............................

Yeah, and each chamber acts more or less like a cylinder. And I do believe it is the contact points that wear out in wankels (rotaries). But they are supposed to offer very good power out of a small package

I'm not laughing at how much "power" it puts out. I'm just laughing because I'm not use to small motors like this. Oh, and sorry for accidentally hitting "t" twice?

I've had a 1984, 1989 Turbo, and a 1993 Twin Turbo. The motors are bullet proof. My 1984 had 195000 miles on it and still was running strong. However, if you overheat them, they're done. You'll destroy the apex seals and thus lose compression. Other than that it's a very robust and great design. In Japan they have a 3 rotor 2.0 liter turbo charged design in the Cosmo that puts out 300hp/300lbtq. Mazda is also the only Japanese manufacturer to win Le Mans, with the rotory engine of course.

I like how the back looks from the front but am not so sure how I like how it looks from the rear....make sense? It looks like the rear should be styled differently from the front. Still...overall a nice looking ride.

The rear looks kind of like a Lincoln? With the taillight design and everything. It's alright looking...
