My SS vs Boss302
My friend recently got a Boss302 so it is bone stock and he has been wanting to race me down the dragstrip. So I just wanted to hear your guys thoughts do you think I could take him or no? My mods are listed in my sig. I don't have all my suspension mods on yet but by the time I do thats when I will race him.

you're going to hear a lot of nonsense like "11 second bone stock boss" and "stock 117 mph trap", blah blah blah.
if he's your average driver he'll run around 12.7-ish at 113-114 tops. don't know what you run, but one of the best things you could do to an L99 is get a hell of a good tune. with your bolt ons you may out ET him but probably not MPH him too.

Your mods don't add much power, suspension is not gonna do much of anything for your 1/4 at this point ether. Get headers and a good tune, and it will come down to best driver. At your current power level my money is on the Stang.

So you think my 3.91 gears won't help me at all? because they sure did feel like they add some power when I got them. Even though i know i might fall short because I have to switch into 5th earlier now and I know i need a bigger cam for that.

agree with others. hes putting down more power and is lighter, so if hes a good driver hell probably take you. if he messes up his shifts/launch then you've got a chance. get headers/cats and a tune and it should help even things out.

Your 3.91's will help you a lot. Although you didn't get any more power from them, your car is quicker & that's why it feels faster. You have not added any serious power that can keep up w/ a boss. You can only hope to get him on takeoff hope he won't catch you. He has more HP & is lighter.

A Boss is actually worse on the 1/4 than a GT, all of the Boss HP is at the top end, so you may get lucky. Probably not if he has a Track-key, that enables the launch mode and helps 1/4 times......if he has practiced and found his best setting.

How is the Boss worse on the 1/4 then a GT? They make similar power down low (less then 10ft lbs difference) and the Boss revs higher, makes more power at the top, and has the optional 3.73s stock, making better use of the gearing down the track.
