Hennessey Performance Package
Hi,
I am considering buying a 2011 SS and I'm also thinking about doing either the 650 or 700 LS9 Hennessey package...still undecided on which. Now I've read all the stuff on Hennessey on the web (the bad thread over at the 300 forum) and all the lawsuits from way back and so forth. So I am well aware of all of that stuff. But I just wanted to get a feel from this site from members that may have done a Hennessey package recently on their camaro. How was your experience? Would you do it again? Is the bad reputation from the past or is it still lingering? Post Hennessey package, is your car now a badder monster? I really appreciate your input. EJ |

I am a customer of theirs and I've hung out with quite a few others who have done their builds and all I can say is their rep is solid and you won't be disappointed in the product.
I have to watch the pocket book or I would have done a lot more business with them... I've found they cater to the little guy just like they do the big guys with deep pockets... Let us know what you decide... and welcome to the forums... |

I am not a customer of Hennessey, but from all the people that have their Camaro builds I personally haven't heard anything negative. It does sounds a bit like their past still haunts them. If you use the search key, you'll find quite a few threads about their packages and how people feel about them. Good luck with what ever you choose.

Thanks for the replies. Are there any others?
There was one piece I read on the web where an ex employee talked about parts being pulled from one car and then sold and put on other customers' cars and some cars would sit parted out. That's a hard mental picture to erase (even though I want to erase it), especially since I don't live in Houston and can drive down and see the shop. That may have been the way it was back in the earlier days, and things may be different now, I don't know. I know Mr. Hennessey and at least one of the sales people are on here. I would suggest that you post some photos of your shop on your site or here in the forums the way it looks now. Maybe do a virtual tour of it like real estate. Because that picture in my mind of cars sitting under a tarp parted out is imprinted pretty heavily in my (and I'm sure others') mind. Thanks! |

Thank you for the posts and we look forward to getting you all the information you are asking about. Hennessey Performance has changed alot since the old posts you saw from 2001-2003. It is now 2010 and with our new ownership in 2009, as other members have posted, we have alot of positive comments on all the builds we have completed. To date we are over 250 completed Camaros on the street and several members are on the forums like Drkllr and Beefman. You asked about our shop. We actually have two shops, 32,000 sq/ft in Houston, TX with our own 1/4 Mile Drag Strip as well as another location in the heart of Southern California, Lake Forest. If you would like to see images and more detailed information about our facilities, please click over to the following link - http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/abhepe.html Look forward to working with you and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly. Speak to you soon, James |

Thanks James - I appreciate the follow-up post and the additional photos. I've talked to JD there a couple of times, but I still haven't decided on who I want to work on the engine. I tried to contact one of the shops here in Atlanta (Vengeance), but after numerous emails back and forth with Ron and weeks of time they won't email me any package information or a quote. They dropped like a brick S*!thouse to the bottom of the list. The other one here (MTI I think it is) never replied back.
I wanted to have the work done locally, but after due dilligence I think it is probably coming down to you guys, Lingenfelter or Nelson out on the west coast. I'd have to ship the car across the country, but I don't care. It'd be worth it. By the way, go to Nelson's site and compare their 1000hp twin turbo package to yours and give me some idea why yours is 3x the price. I'm not being facetious. I really do want to know so I can make a better informed decision. Here's a link if it helps: http://www.nelsonracingengines.com/p..._402lsx_tt.pdf And there is a slight adjustment - it is actually a 388 lsx. Thanks. Last edited by EJ; 06-18-2010 at 06:05 PM. |
