3.91 gears installed

Today I picked up my car after having 3.91 gears installed. It felt strange when I first started driving it. It has been been a few days since I have driven it and I had back surgery since I last drove it as well. The car obviously accelerated quicker but the clutch, parking brake, gear shifter all felt different. When I say different I don't mean anything was wrong everything just felt foreign to me. After driving it for about half an hour or so I got used to it and felt okay with everything once again.

This is one mod where you can easily feel the difference with the butt dyno. I can see this is something I am going to have fun with once I get used to it. This was a difficult install to do where I live. It took call after call in my area until I could find someone to do the install. Found one place out of 20+ phone calls and it was a dealer. Glad I did this mod and would recommend it.

What is the primary reason for changing the gears? Will you be able to accelerate more before having to change gears? Sorry if it's a stupid question, just uneducated on this.

you will be shifting faster because you will get to redline and speed faster.

I should have bought a ZL1

Did the dealer also do the speedo recalc tune to sync the speedo with the new gear ratio?

I paid a little under $700 but I took the rear end out and put it back in the car

Torque multiplication. It takes the power you are already making and puts it to better use. Significant increase in acceleration and off the line performance.

A little better around town and a little less on the highway. Around town I can get into and hold a higher gear easier which puts the engine at a lower rpm for the same speed.

Honestly, what matters the most is how I chose to drive. When I'm ripping on the gears I try to ignore the gas gauge. When I'm just putting around there is no big difference.

It depends on where and how you drive your car. If you drive around town you will get better fuel economy. On the interstate you will see a slight decrease. On average it is probably a wash. At worst you might see a 2-3MPG reduction.

25-26mpg@75mph. Generally I lost 2mpg. highway gained 1-2mpg in town. but I just want to romp on it all the time now

The install at the dealer cost me about $850. I considered it a deal since they were the only place I found find to do the install. As for gas mileage, I tend to get on the gas pedal (too much) and I do more city driving instead of highway but I haven't noticed a big difference in my mileage. It seems about the same for me.

I will second that with increased torque and acceleration. Even with this the car is smooth and stable during acceleration. This is my favorite mod so far.

The dealer did not do any changes for the speedometer. I had the email tune from Jannetty Racing.
