10_SS, The dealer did not call onstar, I called to transfer my account, but really, I have no need for the onstar subscription, the Bluetooth ECM is the way to go..

The dealer did need to call the Tech line to get the download for the upgrade to the system... also, they had to reprogram the TPMS... so the program update does alot.

Installed mine today from ebay and it worked flawlessly and went from having an expired onstar subscription to a green light again! =)

Yes! Works so much better with the steering wheel controls. Works perfectly with the iPhone.

Anyone looking for one, this guy has a pile of them for $249...unfortunately wont ship to Canada :(

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BLUET...item519862bee3 **doesnt seem to come with the antennae**

I want to do this to my car and will be installing the steering wheel controls prior. I've tried reading back but this thread is so long: here are my questions and forgive me if they were already answered previously

I have a 1SS M6

1) Is it as simple as just unplug old PCIM and plug in new PCIM w/bluetooth? Any new harness needed?
2) Does the Antennae just plug into the back of the PCIM?
3) What does the dealer have to do? Any activating or program updating?
4) What does On Star have to do?
5) Does the unit just work off the mic/wiring already in place for On Star?
6) Does the radio then act as the set up unit to accept your bluetooth device?

7) What am I missing or should be aware of??

Thanks a million for the help/advice

As far as installation, yes. Just unplug the connectors and plug the connectors in the same spot on your replacement onstar box
2) Does the Antennae just plug into the back of the PCIM? ?
3) What does the dealer have to do? Any activating or program updating?
4) What does On Star have to do?
For both of the above questions, you will have to contact OnStar and tell them you had a hardware update and that you need your account transfered over to the new box...at least that's the way it used to be done
5) Does the unit just work off the mic/wiring already in place for On Star?
Yes
6) Does the radio then act as the set up unit to accept your bluetooth device?
Yes, it will be done through the stereo

7) What am I missing or should be aware of??

Thanks a million for the help/advice
My answers are in red above
