i think it's that simple...the gen 3 and 4 cars were not timeless, imo. the gen 5 IS. the uncertainty that kept them cautious was whether or not the public would put any faith into them. not historic trends, although that is something they definitely looked into.

i was at my dealer asking if they would be a part of the 60 day guarantee, and they had 3 Equinoxes, 1 LaCrosse, and 1 Camaro in the delivery area. i was impressed.

I have a friend who order a 2SS/RS Summit White Camaro two months ago, and he already got it in. It's very nice. Sun roof and chrome fuel door. I think that's decent timing. Those waiting longer must be a dealer issue or allocation. Unfortunately, I can't get mine until next year. I owe 1 year on my Silverado.

Ok...so GM just says "we are cutting back allocations and production of the SS models..."...and then this.

Well, good news it is! Now, I don't want GM to make too many forcing a price drop...supply and demand. But, I want to see it remain that the Camaro is the 2nd most sought after vehicle on the market today.

I think they should be building as many as they can right now including the SS because this fad will fade just like it did with the mustang. Once all the motor heads get one the sales will level off.

Agreed.

And make enough so there are 1 or 2 on dealers lots. (At less than msrp)

If they keep the Camaro hard to get for a little longer it will be a little more time for people to sit and WANT more, instead of it being an itch that gets scratched right away. I think that would help it not be as much of a fad. If it is too easy to get people will get bored very quickly, half of what they want is the cool factor, and the chase. I think they should do as much as they can to cut down the wait time of the people that have ordered, but other than that just keep pluggin along and maybe authorize some more overtime instead of more workers that they have to worry about.

My pappy always told me you have to make hay when the sun shines. What your saying is a good theroy ,but you got to remember other companies are building cars and coming out with new designs all the time that can shift someone to another car. Right now they have the only hot car and should get as many out the door as they can.

Of course with this popularity comes a price. In ~5-8 years this car will be among the top stolen cars for parts.
