XS Power Full Exhaust owners please chime in!!

Just about to pull the trigger on the complete XS system but worried about running catless. First off I know I will probably need to get it tuned but kinda nervous since my car has 340 miles; trying to work mod acception out with the local dealer tho. The one issue I have is volume and rasp; is there alot of popping and rasp without the cats? Has anyone added cats to their system? The sound clips Ive heard so far make the SS sound so mean and powerful which makes me wanna snag this up. Please give me your input on the pros and cons of your experiences, thanks!!!

I have the 2" full catless system. The ONLY issue I had was the header tube rubbing on the steering shaft. I removed the header and dimpled it with a socket on its side and a hammer. I haven't had mine tuned yet and I have about 5k miles on the exhaust. I immediately felt more power on my butt dyno after the install. The reason I didn't get mine tuned is I knew there would be more mods and I only want to do one tune. As soon as the heads, cam, etc are done I will get it tuned.

I recommend the system. Make sure you get a set of O2 extenders because they come with them.

I have 2" primaries with the 3" exhaust. The O2 extenders don't prevent a CEL unless you have cats. Even then, the cats are moved back enough so that may trigger them. I have a CEL but am used to it. I just hope nothing else other than cat related codes are setting it off.

Oh wow I thought it only came with 1 7/8 primaries. I'm thinking I might just order cats and have them installed with the kit so I don't have to worry about problems and the rasp/deccel popping...cheaper than waiting for the new xs system.

I was going to go with cats but figured I am in a part of the country where it is only visual inspection for emissions and I don't have to have the car inspected until 2015 anyway. That gives me plenty of time to get some cats put on. I think you will be happy with the system with or without cats.

I can get away with the emissions since its on OBD scan and if there is no CELs Im golden. Just curious, what are the 02 extensions needed for?

They are to extend the factory O2 sensor wires so that they reach the sensors screwed into the header themselves. The stock manifolds place the sensor much closer than they are in a set of long tube headers. The extensions bridge the gap.

Oh, I see...I guess I didnt really think about the primaries all collecting into one lower than the factory manifolds...Well I am almost decided, I think I'm about to just click the "Buy" button and get this system on its way
Thanks for the help and insight, I really appreciate it!!

I thought ppl said the drone wasn't too bad...How did you guys end up with 2" primary? I think Im just gonna take the deal with the 1 7/8 and toss the idea of cats around in the next couple days. I am hoping the cats help lower the volume a tad...

i got the 2" system from a local vendor. made me a good price too. the drone is all in each persons perspective. bad drone to me may be tolerable to you. i think the drone is just on the verge of too much the worst is about 75mph. my wife who actually drives the car every day thinks its not bad at all. each person will have a different opinion.

I don't really notice the drone. I also agree it is a matter of perspective. Some people have said the car shakes too much with the stock cam...whatever. I wouldn't complain unless my teeth were actually rattling. I am usually paying enough attention to the stereo I don't notice the drone.

I also got my 2" primaries from a vendor here on C5 that isn't a vendor for XS anymore but may have some left in stock. I bet it is the same place greenmachinedriver got his because they are based out of the DFW area.

I just went ahead and scooped up the huge blowout sale for $765 shipped for full system with extensions. I just HAD to do it. The sound clips made me want the system and the fact that I can have a complete engine to tip exhaust is just unbelievable. I can't wait to get this on the car!!
