Trunk won't open

Bear in mind that I just got my Vert last week, and it's been in the shop havings mods done to it till this morning.

The day starts out hectic enough, I take my rental car back, get a ride to the dealer, pick up the car and head home to load my stuff and head for work (already late).

I get home, and see they put a box with the old CAI in the back seat. The box is big enough that I can't get it out without putting the top down.

I go to put the top down, but nothing happens.?

Hmmm maybe the ignition has to be on. Nope thats not it.
Maybe the car has to be running. Nope thats not it.
Now I see messages telling me it ain't going anywhere till I close the trunk.
Fine, I get out, close the trunk, but it still won't go down.???
See another message now telling me there's a problem in the trunk, that it's not clear.
Okay, go to open the trunk.
Now the trunk won't open?????

Wait a min.....
Now I know they had the decklid off the car to pint stripes, so I'm thinking they must have forgotten to plug a cable in or something.
Great. I try the trunk release on both keys, nothing.
I try the trunk release on the door. Nothing.
Crap. Now I'm going to go back to the dealer, and now I'm really getting late for work.
Just as I get back in the car, reach up and latch the roof because I HAD been trying to lower the top.
Just for grins, I try the trunk again....
WTF, IT WORKS!!!!!

Now I can open the trunk, pull the shade out to allow the top to go down.

Of course now, it's starting to rain, but at least I can open the top enough long enough to get the darn package out of the back seat.

Not only does the trunk have to be clear and CLOSED to be able to put the top down, you can't open the trunk till the top is closed!!!

Boy i feel like an idiot now.......

Why didn't it show a message telling me to latch the darn top if you want to open the trunk you idiot????

So much to learn........

HDRDTD, this is how we all learn....thanks for posting. I'm sure this would happen to one of us eventually. Now we know...and knowing is half the battle.

another tip, just in case you did not know.... there is a MANUAL trunk opening keyhole behind the back seat vertical seat cushion on the driver side.

I had to use that one after I disconnected the battery for installing the steering wheel radio controls and shut the trunk without thinking after I did it :emoticon7:

Don't blame Becky, Sounds to me like the only problem with your car is there is a nut loose behind the wheel.
