Here's all laws for window
tint...http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Consumer_In...statelaws.html

Some states have high fines for violations...Don't get caught in D.C.
1st offense-$50 and can be sent directly to inspection station.
2nd offense-$1000
3rd offense-$5000 and/or civil forfeiture of your vehicle
-oh and the kicker is...if your under 20% with any state tags, an Officer has the choice of impounding your vehicle on the spot!

I went and got the medical waiver for tint at the VA DMV, took it to my eye dr. He filled it out, then I took it back to DMV.

In VA, the waiver allows you to go down to 35% instead of 50% on the front side windows. I think it looks awesome. I went to LA. Tint and they tinted for me. I am waiting for the official form from DMV for LA. Tint to give me a receipt.

Thanks to RallyYellow, and Camaro68 for joining in this pic today. I had a great time at the Stafford Classics car show.

It is not about your vision. Mine is 20/20. It is the brightness effecting your eyes. Squinting, eye aches, etc...

I see this is a common practice. I would have done this a long time ago if I knew I could have. I never knew.

Nice!! Not to jack my own thread but did you forgo the front license plate?

Could you share details on the LA Tint Experience? How much? How long? Which shop? Window indexing issues? Stuff like that.

If I'm really lucky I'll have mine next week. Most likely week after next though.

Thanks

Paul

Sorry for the 3 posts..

I too would like to know. Isn't it illegal to not have a front license plate in VA?

A front plate is the law in VA but from what I hear .... don't quote me .... there may be some "inconsistency" on enforcement and, I would think, somwehat difficult to spot. Get stopped for anything else though and your gonna get a ticket.

I have family in Winchester (I live in Arlington) and the state troopers like to set up checkpoints in that area. Often.

Since this will be my daily driver I'll mount my front plate.

Paul

If you want to go below 50% in va to 35% it is the way to go. I would recommend being legal, and this is a way around the system to get what you want. DMV will update your registration with the info as well. Can you say "is there a problem, officer"?

I did not install the plate. I contacted an aftermarket place who makes them for the vette. They called me back saying they are working on a plate holder that does not screw in, but presses together like the vette has. He said it will take 4 to 6 weeks. He will call me back when it is ready.

I am trying to remember who it was. When I find it I will post.
