Is my dealer lying?

So, today was the first day to place an order, correct?

I walk into my dealer to ask about ordering a car, and find out what their allocation will be.

The response I got was something along the lines of "We aren't taking orders yet because we don't know anything about our allocation, we most likely won't be taking orders until after the first of the year."

So....uhhh....

That dealer is waiting so they can order the cars for themselves and most likely sell over MSRP. Buyers beware!!!

I asked about ordering a new Camaro at Stephen Wade Chevy in St George Utah this afternoon and got dumfounded looks from the salesmen after telling them orders were being taken all over the country today and not after the first of the year as the sales manager told them. Finally informed them I would buy my new Camaro in Vegas as I left. Lot of retards at many of the dealerships.

If you have to ask that question I think you know what the answer is going to be.

Lmao good point, but every dealer i have gone too have not had any idls or the Camaro at all, therefore they had no clue to what i asked, or talked about, they even told me that there were no sold orders, im going to give them all the info they can handle and then demand that they accept my discount, then i will order my car

your dealership is uninformed and will probably be one of the ones that tries to get way above MSRP for cars... your best bet is to do what everyone else here has said and run for hte hills... go find a dealership that is looking to sell cars in volume at MSRP or below... that's what we've discovered at our dealership... they're looking to make alot of sales and make their money by selling volume.

and, for what its worth, our dealership told us last week while we sat in on the IDL what their allocation was... he just asked us not to tell anyone until this week when it became public knowledge.

LOL...

1st dealer I talked to said they couldnt do an order, but they would happily take a deposit.

2nd dealer told me they only get to order 1, and I was the 2nd call.... they did call me back but he said his mark up would be 5-10k.

3rd dealer said they were allocated 9 orders, and markup would be 3k...... I gave them my order. I hate to pay over MSRP, but we've dealt woith them before with our silverado and they do right by us..... and we'll get lifetime oil changes for free.. and a few other things.
