Anyone have HUD Replaced?

HUD wasn't working when I took delivery. Dealer had to order new unit. Dropped car off Monday for them to install. They can't figure out how to get unit out of car. They claim service manual steps don't work, and after waiting two days for help from Chevy Tech Assist, they still can't figure it out. Now they are waiting to hear from the "guy that designed the dash". No idea how much longer it will take to figure it out.

Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks Stieger, I found the thread. It looks like a pain in the a**, but I don't know why the dealer can't figure this out. Has anyone else had an issue with a dealer having trouble installing a HUD unit?

all they have to do is remove the dash. 2SSRS pulled out a 2010 dash in the parking lot at Fest. It's like maybe two dozen bolts.

I apologize for the frustrations you may be experiencing with this issue. If you could please send me your first and last name, address, phone number, VIN, mileage and involved dealership, I can do more research and set up a case with GM customer service.

I await your reply via PM.

Thanks Brandon, PM sent. Dealer did call me today to say car should be done Monday. I am worried though. Service Adviser told me on Wednesday that her Tech "could pry HUD out with a screwdriver" but he didn't want to break anything. Hopefully they figured out the correct way to do this and they don't go with the "screwdriver" method.

I received a surprise call yesterday afternoon. My car was ready for pick up! Service manager said that service manual has 18 steps to replace HUD, but there were 3 steps missing. He said GM is going to revise the steps. I don't know if you had a hand in getting the job Brandon, but thanks for your help either way.
