Thumbs down Got spanked by gmpartsdirect

Be careful and be sure you want what you order. While their pricing is excellent. Don't pull that trigger unless you are sure. We probably all read the thread about the Camaro on blocks.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71531

Well, I read that and immediately ordered the gm wheel locks. People then chimed in about gorilla locks. So I order then ordered the Gorilla locks from Amazon. I tried to call gmpartsdirect to cancel the order. No phone # and in their FAQ...they say you cannot cancel an order. So I sent them an email...no response. I received the order and then followed the instructions to obtain a return #. I then noticed that i was taking a big hit on the amount they were giving me back. There is a 20% restock fee with a minimum of $20. Therefore, on my $61 purchase, I am getting back 41 and i have to pay for shipping to return. So I may get all of $30 back for my quick purchase without researching. Oh well. I may just keep them and use bolth....

Anyway...just letting everyone know....

So you jumped the gun on purchasing something without doing a little research, and now its the company's fault?

Offer the GM wheel locks on here, I am sure someone would buy it or there's always craigslist.

You have to admit $20 to re-stock an item that is already extremely over priced @ $61 is a little high.

I would keep them and attempt to sell elsewhere.

Dont mean to sound unsympathetic but read the fine print before you order anything from anywhere online. When I ordered my 4-pack guages I searched high and low, compared prices, shipping, terms..all of that and found that gmpartsdirect was the best place for what I wanted. Sorry it didnt work out for you.

I love how half the time someone starts a COMPLETELY retarded thread, and nobody says anything and most people go along with it.

And the other half of the time, someone starts a valid thread, and someone crawls all up in their a$$ for no good reason.

Just an amusing observation...

Horrible customer service and horrible return policy! I'm sure Amazon would not have done that! Just letting people know.

Thanks for letting us know. Forget the haters. You have now learned and you'll do more searching/researching next time. You may have just saved someone else from the same mistake.

also, he never said it was GMPARTSDIRECT's fault. He didn't bash the company or hate on anyone. He politely and matter-of-fact-ly told his sales/return experience with a company most of us are familiar with. most people are appreciative of this information.

Why are people on the internet so negative sometimes?

Yeah I am done with gmpartsdirect as well, I sent them a email asking for the part number on the lug nuts for RS wheels as I dinged one when I was putting on my brakes and they send me a letter stating that they will not supply a part number because I don't own the vehicle adn I gave them a faulty vin number. So I had to call up my dealer and tell them that GM gave me a faulty VIN number LOL.

Weird thing is I have bought a lot of stuff from them.

Try gmpartshouse from now on, Gene is a great guy to deal with and a lot more professional.

Yep, gmpartsdirect is not particularly consumer oriented. They have high processing/shipping fees and poor return policies. They have also been extremely
slow on orders in the past.

Honestly, the only reason to order from them is price. And for many people that
overrides all other concerns. They're never my first choice, but I do order from them occasionally when I need an expensive part (but don't need it right away) and no one else can touch their price. I just bought splash guards from them for $160 and was amazed when they shipped out the next day.

The next time I need a GM part, I think I'm going to try gmpartshouse.com. They are another GM dealership selling parts online, and seem to have good prices. I would expect their customer service to be good due to their presence on this forum.

I agree with the OP, 20% re-stock fee on something like wheel locks that are still in their packaging and they can turn around sell for $60 again is BS. Plus 20% is a bit much.
