Something I noticed...XM satellite radio
The other day I was showing someone pictures of the new camaro at its website chevy.com/performance and I noticed in one of the pics (at the bottom of the home page) of the interior that there was an xm satellite radio button. This may be old news, but it makes me a little more excited that there may be satellite radio in the new camaro.

I gotta be honest, I hope they do something much more practical with the production controls. They look...silly in the concept

Yeah it offers absolutely no room for aftermarket support the way it is set up now. Plus it looks like a nightmare if anything breaks or burns out. I hope it has a unique look, but is a LOT more practical and easy to maintain/upgrade than it is now.

It's not exclusive to the Camaro Concept. |

Back to the satelite radio, I think that would be awesome if the car came with it and a few years subscription. I have "Built my own car" on many car sites and some come with the sat radio and a subscription. I am 100% confident that the radio and a/c controls will be more user friendly because we still have to remember its only a concept and not the production car even though its supposed to be 90% the same. I think the 10% change will be the radio and a/c along with the speedo and tach revised a little. And i also hope the radio is not permenant or nearly impossible to get out because it is very possible i may put in an aftermarket one if stock doesnt sound that great.

As for satellite radio, my bet is, it will be offered.
As for the radio/controls in the concept, it's just a "concept car design". The production version will be much closer to what we're accustomed to. |

Yeah pretty much anything out nowadays can be had with sattelite radio. I plan on getting the premium sound system, whatever that may be. I am just thinking from a sales point of view. Designing stereos that are basically inpossible to replace would put a serious hurt on the car audio industry. Just think 30 years down the road when we are trying to do a concours restoration or a place like Unique Performance or West Coast Customs is trying to build a custom car. They would have to fabricate everything for custom audio, which would drive costs up quite a bit. Granted this doesn't factor in technological advances or if we will even be allowed to drive cars in 30 years, but my point is. It hurts everyone unless you can pus some serious factory sound in these cars via partnerships with the leading audio companies. Right now this isn't the case. most are mid-level companies (monsoon, bose car audio) with the exception of Rockford Fosgate and Kicker that I know of. If I am wrong please correct me.

Hopefully it will be an option and can be deleted from a package - satellite radio isn't for me

Now HD radio is a whole nother bag of worms, that should definitely be standard by the production timeframe.

I want an integrated 20 gig hard drive so I can load all of the music I want to hear and play it when I want to hear it.

An integrated harddrive would be great. I would need a bigger one though, like 200GB. Then I can watch porn on my navigation screen ! Seriously. I need a huge harddrive to store all my music. If that's not possible, an accesory jack for my Ipod will do.

People may not want to remove the Stereo in the new Camaro if the advice from an impromptu pole is taken....
