ZL1 Stripes, Issue with Shark Fin

I excited to say I will be receiving my slightly used 2012 ZL1 on Saturday. It has every option I would have ordered except a dark gray stripe to match the carbon fiber hood. It’s no issue to get the stripe through my Chevy dealer however I’m not sure how to address the shark fin color. I see someone mentioned in another thread that there is a cutout in the stripe for it. However, it appears those cars ordered with the stripe have a matching shark fin. The dealer didn’t seem to know anything about this. It doesn’t appear to be covered by its own decal at least in the pics I’ve seen. Is anyone aware if you can order a prepainted one to match or if there is a GM matching paint code I could order to paint myself? Also, is anyone aware of any pics of one with a stripe and a body colored shark fin? Thanks!

I thought if you have stripe you get a black shark fin.

From the factory. The issue is he's doing this after the fact

Good question, I have never seen the gray in person however pics I've seen of several for sale appear to match the gray stripe, hard to tell though.

Do do it properly, you have to remove the headlinder and take the shark fin off the car to paint it. That's what I did, but then again I'm anal and I think if you are going to do somethnig, you may as well do it right.

I added strip after the fact. Had the dealer body shop install it. They painted the shrk fin ashen gray to match the stripe. Looks stupid if the shark fin doesn't match IMO. Very happy with how mine came out. I think the dealer told me you can't order a shark fin in ashen gray so it must be painted. Much cheaper to order the car with the stripe than to do it after the fact but I love how it looks - makes the ZL1 stand out even more because its the only model in the Camaro line up with a single stripe. Takes a lot of time to install this stripe properly to get it lined up and get the bubbles out, I'm told..

That orange with stripe looks great. I guess it does look better with the shark fin painted. I have sun roof, but thinking of adding the stripe in front of and behind it. They don't do that with the factory package. Do you think it would look good?

Think it would look great. I can send you a pic or two to show you what it looks like on my car. I think it looks especially good on SIM and white..

I think it would like good as well, that is the route I would take if I had a sunroof.

On the stripe front if I'm going to paint it I would really like something that matches exactly. I think I'm going try it with the red and see what it looks like, can always paint it later. I still need to order them in so I'll post a picture in a couple weeks. Thanks for all the feedback!

The shark fin is black if you have stripes.
