Check the PEDDERS/Z28 thread in the Z28 section...you'll find this list was posted, oh, about 9 months ago...

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149090

...and if you bother to go through it all, the 1LE name was mumbled by a then-insider, oh, about July/11...long before the SEMA concept was unveiled...

Yes...I would agree with your line of thought, however, GM should not take into consideration any possibility of what Corvette buyers think about using the LS7 in our line. Precident has been set along time ago about using the same motors between lines. Lets do it now. We are asking for the LS7 and see no reason why we can not have it. Please let's leave the worn out Wixom hand built it's gonna cost too much argument out. GM is savy. Come on boys, it's time to not play so close to the vest anymore. Time's a waistin here. Blue Oval appears to be not so overly cautious. Don't do it three quarters of the way anymore. Pull out the stops. Focus on the product and be bold. Don't focus on covering too wide a target market.

I think its more like this:

Camaro V6 = Base Corvette
Camaro SS = Grand Sport Corvette
Camaro 1LE = Corvette ZO6
Camaro ZL1 = Corvette ZR1

I'm happy with 2SS/RS. No need to upgrade.

Don't get too caught up in thinking that engines are exclusive to one car line.
In the '60s and early '70s LS5s and LS6s were available in station wagons for those who wanted to pull boats and horse trailers.

I think there's still a chance for an LS7-equiped model before the Gen-5 line is done. That would be a great "last-hurah" finish for the "Comeback Kid", that's what I'm hoping for anyway...

If the 1LE can produce a sub 3 second lap at VIR as claimec, according to Car and Driver Lightning Lap times, thats better than the Boss Mustang (3:02) and several other elite cars.

No they didn't and I'm happy they left it all off. It's a nice tribute to the models history. I have a '92 1LE and when I bought it, it reminded me of the '67 Z/28. Back then, not one Z/28 badge on the model and the only thing visible that distinguished it from other camaros on the outside were stripes and bigger wheels (to the observant). In fact, Z/28 was nothing more than another RPO number. Some smart guy in marketing changed all that for the '68 model year and the rest is history.

Love the fact the Camaro is finally going to have an in dash navigation option!! This was one of the reasons I went with a used Vette instead of getting the camaro when it came out in 2010. I also love the dual mode exhaust! Any chance this thing is going to have a smart key and push button start? That's another nice feature to have that even cars like Ford Focus and Kia Optima are getting nowadays.

I was kidding of course. I saw the spec sheet. But do not rule out the DOHC. Anyway what's the big deal about rumors? They are fun.
