RJT meets SIM (Custom Stripes)

I took my SIM 2LT/RS to the paint shop today to get some custom painted stripes put on. Being that I have always loved the Silver/Burgundy color scheme that was used on the Shelby Series 1. I thought I would keep the stock Camaro colors and I am going with Red Jewel Tint coat for the stripes. The only real hard decision was what type of stripes to get, I decided to go with the stock OEM stripes and a modified spoiler, my brother wanted to go with the Bumble Bee style rallies but I just don't think BB stripes look good on a LT. I am getting a extraordinary deal on the stripes as he is only charging $900 for the entire setup that will take roughly five days. It is being broke down like this:

Day 1: Layout stripes (Thanks to Embalmer for his roof shot of his car)
Day 2: Two Coats of Red Jewel Tint coat will be applied
Day 3: One coat of clear will be put on and wet sanded
Day 4: Second Coat of Clear will be sprayed
Day 5: Complete Car Buff and Polish

The guy that will be doing the work is Mitch Diamond. Some might have seen his work at SEMA or some of the Truck magazine. Here are some links of his work.

Anyway I thought I would show some picks of Day 1, and will be back tomorrow with day two picks:

Its starting to take shape. Just got back from the paint shop and boy is she starting to look good,

Had a little trouble with the paint on the trial shoots he did. So he ended up putting two small dusting of black paint first then put two coats of RJT. Everything was going smooth to where he even got the first coat of clear on with a wetsand. I have to say that the Red Jewel Tintcoat is one beautiful color.

So a couple more days of work, tomorrow he is going in to but the next layer of clear on and a quick wetsand and then sunday he will either put a extra layer of clear or just buff it depending on how well everything looks and feels. So it seems as she will be done a couple days early.

Anyway here is the next set of pictures

Just ran over to see how she was coming along and I am stoked

Clearcoat is done and it is as smooth as a babies bottom cannot feel the stripes at all. The RJT is one beautiful color and is one of the coolest reds I have seen, it has that pearl metallic and the changes of color depending on the light is amazing.

She will be finished tomorrow and I'll have finished photos afterwards.

Enjoy the pics:
